HI I need a little help and advice

Hello all. I am getting a boxer puppy in 4 weeks. But now I am so confused. I took my husband to meet the puppies and he likes one of the brindle puppies. She is adorable too. I thought that we were gonna get the fawn runt, but now I am not so sure. I want everyone in the family to agree on which puppy that we get. The brindle is stronger and more outgoing I am guessing because she is not the runt. Oh I wish I could have them both but that is not a possibility. Can anyone tell me what I should look for in a puppy and how you know which one is right for you?

This is just my experience, but the puppy picked me. When you hold them close to you, and you get a puppy kiss and a big old boxer sigh then that's the one. None of the other puppies did that.

I just think that you get a certain feel for a puppy when you go look at them. It is almost like the chemistry that you feel when you meet someone of the opposite sex, you have a certain feeling that this is the right person (puppy). If you feel you want the fawn runt and your DH wants a brindle then I think you should go back to the breeder and visit with just those two puppies and see what kind of feeling you get from them. It is a major decision and should be a "until death do us part type of a relationship" so you want to make the right decision. Go back and take just the two pups and play with just those two and I believe you will make a decision you can live with, who knows you may find that it is not impossible to have two.

Runts can be little firecrackers.

Hi! I just wanted to tell you that the runt of the litter can be a very out going and lively. We just picked up our new little girl this weekend. Our breeder had the runt from her last litter who is a week younger than my puppy and about 1/3 of the size of my puppy but, boy was this little guy feisty. He was barking and playing as hard as he could with my puppy and with one of his litter mates and my oldest child.
I just wanted to let you know that the runt can be just as playful as the other puppies in the litter. Good luck with choice. I think the other posters gave you good advice on how to choose the right puppy for ya'll.
Both of our boxers picked us. Our male Zeus is a rescue and he went right to my husband the first time he met him. Dh feel in love with the big guy so thats how we got Zeus and our newest boxer she went right to my dd and started to play. My dd said "mom, this is the puppy I want!" So thats how our dogs where choosen.

I agree with others, the dog picks you! Willis would come and sleep in my lap the whole time we would visit. The other dogs would play, but Willis was content to just hang out with us. We thought he might be a quiet dog! Boy were we wrong (and we're very happy about that). The second we got him home his energy levels ramped up to 200 and he hasn't settled down since. :D

Your breeder should be able to help out too... experienced breeders are great at matching temperaments to families. Ask their advice if you really are having a tough time choosing!

The saga continues. I am going to visit the puppies next week and spend some quality time playing with them. I also agree that my puppy will choose us. My daughter will be going over today and hopefully she will connect with the one we get. She has a great personality and I am sure one of those pups will fall in love with her. My hubby also wants to spend some alone time with them. Everytime we have gone to see them we have had the baby and my 6 year old so there was a bit of chaos. So hopefully I will know next week.

Hi Ria, I have to agree with the puppy picking you. My girl (who I get Nov. 6) picked me. I called all 9 pups and 3 came running (she was one of them). 2 of the pups kissed me but put up a big fuss when I turned them on their backs. My little girl kissed and licked me and fell asleep on her back in my hands. When I brought her up to my neck/shoulder she snuggled right in and was oh so content there. My DH and I had every intention of getting a flashy brindle - but this little girl spoke to me and claimed my heart. She is a classic brindle. After leaving and contemplating in the car what just transpired - I cried, because I knew deep in my heart that she was my little girl, she was THE one and she picked me.
