Hi I found my new family. It now consists now of Mom and Dad, 2 and 6 year old sisters, and two cats that seem not to want to play with me, is learning all about boxers! I am now 11 weeks old fawn beauty with a black mask. I love my new home as I have tons of area to run around in. This is my family's first puppy so I have been spoiled rotten. We are all excited and have so much to learn. BoxerWorld has so much helpful information. Thanks for having us!

Welcome fellow Arizonan!

I am new to the board as well. In fact I've never been on a forum board before so I'm learning as I go. My Intro is listed simply as Introduction - dsch it. Not very original.

We also have an 11 week old fawn but it's a male named Moose (guess we're anticipating). He's a beautiful boy and full of energy! I was hoping this site would help me with some issues I'm having regarding house training. Otherwise he seems to be very bright. Using treats as an incentive he is already performing sit, stay, lay down, come and shake believe it or. I'm kind of astonished. It's all about the treat!

Well, once again, nice to meet you. Sure wish it would cool off! By the way we are located on the west side near Verrado.

Nice to meet you!

Welcome!

I am on the same track as you are. We are working hard on potty training and listening to commands. So far she will sit, come, and go outside. We have not got to the lay down or shake. Maybe i need to work with her more.

By the way we are really close, I live in Buckeye as well on Jackrabbit Rd.!

small world!

Wow, that is very odd...we live just a block west of Jackrabbit! You know I was thinking...what if we bought litter mates? I bought ours from a breeder up north of the Desert Hills area. His actual birth date was July 21st.

Anyway...I would give up the "shake" command and "lay down" if he would only get to be house broken. Well that and get over the whole biting thing. He just doesn't seem to care to go outside. We have two older dogs that he loves to torment and I thought maybe he would learn from them but nothing so far. I just want him to end up being a really good dog with great manners. He's going to be so big and we have a 9 mo. grandchild here as well as our son. He needs to be gentle.

So anyway, it looks like we have a road ahead. It's good to meet you keep me posted as to how your doing. Any tips with house breaking would be great! Is Roxy being crate trained? I started doing that but then stopped. Maybe I should try again.

Yes it is!

No, I don't think they are not litter mates. I got her is Mesa.

Well, we are not completely potty trained either. When she gets excited she goes everywhere! and i still find accidents. I try to get her out often and when i am doing other things she is either in her kennel or outside. I heard crate training makes potty training easier. Roxie sleeps in there all night up until 6am. The first few nights were hard. She cried and ended up in my bed! Well i did not want that so i comforted her in her kennel. She also takes naps there too. I also had to make the crate smaller than the divider did so she would not wet the bed. and it worked no accidents at night. The only tips i have for potty training is I tell her lets "go outside" and "potty", if she just looks at me i tell her to be a good girl and usually she goes on command. Sometimes we walk around the yard. then sometimes treat her! She is also still nipping at my girls, we also have a long road ahead!

We'll hang in there

I think I'll try crating him again. I'll have to make it smaller as well. He peed in there each time in the past. I know he can go all night long without doing that because initially he slept with me on the bed all night and didn't have any accidents. I think it was his way of letting me know he wasn't happy.

They'll be great dogs when we get them trianed up and they mature a little. Hang in there!
