This is one fantastic website! A huge amount of information is available. Very impressive!

We have a 13 month old Boxer named Rocky who when I left for the office this morning was running around the backyard trying to bite the water shooting out of the sprinklers. He is such a character and he is getting oh so big!. He's about 95lbs all muscle and growing. We also have a 7yr old white persian cat and the two of them go at it every morning runnign up and down the stairs for about an hour. Lot's of fun to watch.

Any other boxer lovers in south Jersey?

sounds great! Rocky would love that!

Unfortunately I have no digital pics yet. Just regular film. Just bought a new scanner though and will be uploading very soon. Maybe let me know when you're coming next and we'll figure it out from there.

Hi & Welcome! Nice to see another New Jerseyan. I am from South Jersey, only minutes from Philadelphia. When I hear Barnegat I think of the lighthouse, which we visited a while ago. Nice to meet you & Rocky. Hope to see pics of your boy. It is a wonderful site & very much informative!

Hi and welcome from another New Jerseyan!!! While we live in North Jersey, we also go "down the shore" a lot to visit my in-laws in Lakewood! We have never been to Island Beach State Park yet with Layla--do they have certain hours for doggies only?

Beach Boxers

Taryn,
Island Beach has several fishing beaches--way down the road from the swimming beaches. There are no lifeguards, and are very secluded. Folks with fishing permits can drive their trucks onto the beaches and camp out, so long as they have a line in the water. You can also swim (at your own risk) there. Many people bring their dogs to that section of the park. It really is incredible--well worth the extra driving time to get to! A friend from Belmar told me that Bradley Beach allows dogs on after regular swim hours, and a small segment between Spring Lake and Belmar (by the big brick gateposts) is also dog-friendly any time (a Spring Lake officer told us that when he came by to let us know that we were not supposed to be on their beach). We are not far from Lakewood at all--maybe Mugsy and Layla can meet this summer after all!

dogs on beach

Barnegat Light Park (north tip of the island) also allows dogs (Not up in the light house of course) however they must be on a leash. Rocky loves it there. Also Surf City (first public beach left of the bridge) allows dogs during the off season (no leashes required) We take rocky there all through the fall.
