Hi BW! My name is Suzy and 3 years ago, I met a wonderful man, and have since become "step mom" to his two beautiful boxers:
Drake our 8 year old 80 lb male, is the most gentle dog I have ever encountered. Our friends always say he is there favorite, and have named him "Velvet Head" - he's so sweet. Unfortunately last Friday, he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He is back home after a treatment for pneumonia, and seems back to his 'old' self. We are beside ourselves thinking that we will soon have to say goodbye to him. That's how I ended up here, and after reading all the different posts, I've found other people who realize that no, they're not "JUST" dogs!
Deuce is our 6 year old fawn female who has more personality than most people I've met! We figure if she could speak, she would have a British accent. 2 years ago she was innocently outside in our fenced yard, when the next door neighbors pure bread pit bull paid a visit - the results were 'one' tiny little brindle puppy. We had all kinds of troubles with his health from the second week, but he is now a super happy, bundle of energy - we call him Puckie! He weighs in at a wopping 95 solid muscular lbs and friends have named him "hard head"!! He loves everything and everybody - especially Drake!! Lucky for us, he takes care of Drake's drooling problem, and Drake in return spends his time licking Puckie in all his itchy spots (allergies)!! People think that Puckie is a pure bread boxer (except for that wagging thing off his back side) - we haven't told him he's part pitty...
Thanks for having this website - i've found some wonderful info, heart wrenching stories and some fantastic pictures!
Cheers
