Boxer Pal
Hi BW! My name is Suzy and 3 years ago, I met a wonderful man, and have since become "step mom" to his two beautiful boxers:

Drake our 8 year old 80 lb male, is the most gentle dog I have ever encountered. Our friends always say he is there favorite, and have named him "Velvet Head" - he's so sweet. Unfortunately last Friday, he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He is back home after a treatment for pneumonia, and seems back to his 'old' self. We are beside ourselves thinking that we will soon have to say goodbye to him. That's how I ended up here, and after reading all the different posts, I've found other people who realize that no, they're not "JUST" dogs!

Deuce is our 6 year old fawn female who has more personality than most people I've met! We figure if she could speak, she would have a British accent. 2 years ago she was innocently outside in our fenced yard, when the next door neighbors pure bread pit bull paid a visit - the results were 'one' tiny little brindle puppy. We had all kinds of troubles with his health from the second week, but he is now a super happy, bundle of energy - we call him Puckie! He weighs in at a wopping 95 solid muscular lbs and friends have named him "hard head"!! He loves everything and everybody - especially Drake!! Lucky for us, he takes care of Drake's drooling problem, and Drake in return spends his time licking Puckie in all his itchy spots (allergies)!! People think that Puckie is a pure bread boxer (except for that wagging thing off his back side) - we haven't told him he's part pitty...

Thanks for having this website - i've found some wonderful info, heart wrenching stories and some fantastic pictures!
Cheers
Suzy

Welcome to BW, sounds like you have some great pups!

Hopefully your girl has since been spayed...sooo much better health wise since Boxers are already so prone to cancer!

I have 2 Boxers and a Great Dane, all rescues!

Completely Boxer Crazy
Welcome Chilly Suzy:O) Drake , Deuce and Puckie aka New Boxer World members; Burrr I bet your much colder then we are in NH and I think that its pretty darn cold here .. But being from Sunny Calif, we think any thing below the 70's is cold <G> I've had enough of winter for me personally..thats for sure..I'm so ready for Spring.. Tired of snow and ready to see something green and blooming. plus anything warmer would be nice.. but then we'll complain that its too humid.. just no pleasing a Californian living in NH <G> Any way Hope you enjoy this site as I think you'll fit right in with the many the other members who love their boxers more then words can express

Sorry to hear that your Drake has been diagnosed with Cancer.. it seems to attack the boxer breeds more then others for some reason..There are lots of members who have experiance with this awful disease.. Maybe you can talk with some of them to have some support that will help you in dealing with Drakes illness. I'll be keeping him in our thoughts and prayers..

I lost my First boxer Riley Jan 1-05 he was only 3 his illness it happened so fast and it was and still is very hard because he wasn't a DOG he was a family member.. Shhh I never told him that he was a D-O_G He was always just Our handsome Boy ,I used tell him that and hug him and kiss him all the time so he was very spoiled and we had such a special bond with him and thats something that not all people understand, but it seems to be pretty common with Boxer owners on BW they get it.. and they have it.. So we understand where your coming from, loving your 3 fur babies so much . ANY WAY.. I start typing and dont shut up.. Take care and enjoy BW... Vickie

Riley my handsome Brindle boy waiting at the bridge 01-01-05

Cody almost 3 months old our Flashy fawn boy our new family member a handful but he is giving us lots of boxer kisses and kidney beans now and is learning new things every day.. that does so much for our spirit of missing Rileys wiggles and nub wagging..

Fellow Canadian, Eh.

Just wanted to say "Welcome". This is definately the place to perform your Boxer worship (LOL)! Sorry about Drake. That definately hit close to home, seeing as how our boy just turned 8yrs this month. I'm a little afraid of what lies ahead. To our knowledge, right now Jacob is in great health. It's just too bad that they don't have the same life span as we do!!!!!!!
