He's growing fast

Hi. Jixer is my first boxer and every time we take him out, to the park, PetSmart or just on a walk, people ask how old he is. No one believes he is just 6 months. We weighted Jixer to order his heartgard and he is 62 pounds now. Is this not normal? Do any of you remember about how much your boxers weighed at 6 months? Thanks!

Guinness is 6 months and weighs almost 40 lbs...

Coco is 10 mos and weighs about 55 pounds. I don't consider her small or large, she seems just about right to me. Maybe that's because she's mine =) ol Females tend to be smaller than males tho so you can't really compare them. It seems large but maybe that's just the way he's gonna be. I think it depends a great deal on the individual dog and where he came from. If your vet thinks he's healthy then I wouldn't worry about it. Just like kids, they all grow at differant rates.

i get the same thing. my bruno just turned 6 months a few days ago and he too is 62 pounds. i feel better knowing someone else is going through the same thing.

I think Cisoc was about 40-45 lbs at 6 months....

Keno will be 7 mos old in five days and he weighs somewhere around 55-60 lbs...he hasn't been weighed in a couple of months, but last time he was he weighed 50 lbs...Keno's our first boxer too and we're so amazed how fast they grow ! Seems like just yesterday when we brought him home and he weighed 10 lbs!!! He's such a moose now, I swear!

Diesel is 5.5 months old and weighs 68 lbs. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with a "big puppy". My brother in law was over a little earlier and was amazed at how big Diesel is. His father weighed 100lbs and the mom was 75-80 lbs. Our vet thinks he will be right around 100 lbs when he is finished growing....we'll see!!

Jixer's dad was a solid 85-90 lbs and his mom was 65 before the pups. It's nice to have a few other boxers to reference him to. When he was in preschool he was keeping pace with a mastif in his class. I love the big dogs and he's a sweet guy at heart. I am still amazed though when I look at the pictures from the day we brought him home!

Oh my! You don't have a boxer...you have a horse Becky!! Wow, and I bet he still thinks he's a lap dog doesn't he?!! Hahahaha!

I'm hoping Keno tops out at no more than 75 lbs when he's done growing..he already is so big that if he smacks ya with his butt he just about knocks ya down (me & the kids anyway) !! :rolleyes:

Well all pups grow at a different rate so maybe he's growing real fast right now and will slow down a lot soon. Do you know how big his parents were? Oh well either way doesn't matter, I'm sure he's adorable!

My Wilson is almost 40 pounds at 5 1/2 months.
