Hero Boxer bites bear in PA !

My min pin got between me and a momma moose who was coming into our yard along with her twin moose babies. He chased her off, he would NOT listen to me for anything and I couldn't keep up with them. Siren (my boxer) went after Kevlar of course - and I know without a shadow of a doubt she went after him to protect him - because she is always protecting him from other animals. They came home hours later...I balled until they did, looking for them in the woods until the wee hours of the morning. I found the momma moose and her babies - but not my furkids - I knew that pin was no match for a protective momma moose.

I saw Major's story on the Fox News ticker yesterday, and have been consumed by thoughts of him ever since. I hope he is reunited with his family soon. What a super pup!

Major was spotted by a neighbor at about 8 a.m. Tuesday about a quarter of mile away from his home.

The family is happy to hear that Major didn’t have a fatal encounter with the black bear and hope he returns home.

They plan to leave Major’s favorite treats outside Tuesday night, barbequed ribs and a bowl of water.

Its Wednesday right? been a long week, and I'm too far away to hear about it. Thanks

Boxer saves kids from bear!

Anyone else in the pittsburgh area see this? The bear charged the kids and Major the boxer bit it in the nose and ran after it. Unfortunately Major is missing but the good news is that he has been spotted twice but noone can catch him- YAY for boxers- just thought I would share. http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/index.html

Hero Dog Returns Home After Chasing Bear Away

LIGONIER TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- The hero dog that chased a bear away from three children returned home Wednesday night.



Major


Bill Rusko said he and his children were looking in the woods about a mile from their home when Major was located. The children were yelling for Major and the dog came running out of the woods. The Rusko family brought Major home and he ate two bowls of pork chops and drank a lot of water before taking a nap on the living room floor with the children.

Earlier this week, a black bear crossed Route 30 and approached the three children while they were playing badminton. The dog circled the children, to get the bear's attention, and bit the bear at least once on the face before chasing it back into a wooded area.

The dog did sustain some injuries and will be taken to a veterinarian on Thursday.
