Go Freckles!

I am keeping my fingers crossed that Freckles' chemo keeps working. I really have a good feeling about this. This is a great sign. I'm sure your oncologist is quite pleased. Just stay strong--you're doing an amazing job! I will keep you and Freckles in my prayers. Skye sends Freckles all of her wiggle power! I know Cadence is watching down over Freckles, too.
Definitely keep us posted!

Disappointed

We went in on Friday for Freckle's third chemo session. Unfortuately, we could give her the chemo because her white blood count was too low. The last chemo session with carboplatinum really is strong. Her red blood count is good, her heart is fine but her white blood count is too low. Any ideas how to get her white blood count up?

Unfortunately there is no way for you to get the white blood count back to normal here is a brief description of why.

WBC is an abbreviation for white blood cell count. These cells help fight infection and respond when an area of the body becomes inflamed. Elevated white blood cell counts indicate infection, inflammation and some forms of cancer or leukemia. Low white blood cells counts can indicate viral infections, bone marrow abnormalities or overwhelming infections and sepsis (blood poisoning). In this situation, the white blood cells are concentrated in the area of infection and are not circulating in the blood, resulting in a low count.

It is low probably from her chemo sessions. Sometimes a little break in them will help. My MIL had low white counts when she was having her breast cancer treatment. It fixed itself after awhile.

Good Luck! Give Freckles a snuggle for me!

Tamoxifen and chemo

Hi Folks,

Thought I send an update. Freckles has made it thru her 3rd chemo session. I can't believe how strong my baby is. Unfortunately, my other child, Pepper the border collie and the baby in the family has a lump in her leg. We just had a needle biopsy done by the oncologist and waiting for the results. All I can say that it is tiring. I am hoping and praying that it is a cyst or benign tumor. I don't know if I can take having both of my babies in chemo.

Anyhow, Freckles is going to start taking tamoxifen and doxicyclene as well as being in chemo. Has anyone used tamoxifen to fight hemangiosarcoma?

Appreciate all the support.

Freckles is an unbelievable little girl. What a tough cookie!!! We are keeping our paws crossed that this is the end of it with Freckles and she is back to her healthy boxer self.

I am so very sorry to hear about Pepper. You poor thing having to go through all of this. You have got to be pretty tough as well to get through this. (((((HUGS))))) and sloppy sloppy boxer kisses to both Freckles and Pepper. Once again, paws crossed for a negative on Pepper's biopsy.

Keep us posted please.

I am just so excited to read Freckles' updates! Sounds like she is doing wonderfully, which I am just thrilled about for you. I know firsthand how tiring the whole chemo roller coaster is and you're doing a great job. I'm sorry to hear that Pepper has a scare as well, but don't panic yet. It may not be anything serious. Colby, Skye, and I send extra special
((((((((healing vibes))))))))))) to Pepper and Freckles. The only thing I can tell you about Tamoxifen is that it is used in humans for breast cancer treatment, after chemo. Once women are finished their chemo, they're usually placed on Tamoxifen for a few years. Doxycycline is an antibiotic. So it sounds like Freckles is doing well and I'm so happy for you!! fiestaicon

Please keep us posted, as your story brings me hope!! You and Freckles are always in my thoughts.

How are Freckles and Pepper?

I was just thinking about Freckles and Pepper and was wondering how they are? Did you get a diagnosis on Pepper? I hope both babies are doing well. I think of you all very often, and keep pulling for your pups. Give Freckles and Pepper both a big huge hug from me! Colby and Skye send their world-famous wiggles!!!

Happy 4th of July

Hi everyone,
Everyone is doing well. Turns out that Pepper's lump is a fatty cell.

Freckles is surviving all the medicine that she has to take. This Friday will be her 4th chemo session. She will be taking carboplatinum. I can't believe how well she is doing. We just did a chem panel on her liver. There has been no changes which for us is very good news. On Friday, we will also have an ultrasound and x-rays taken to see how her body is doing.

Nicole - thank you so much for your support. I know that Cadence is watching over all of the God's furry creatures.

Hope everyone has a great and safe 4th of July.

Love,

Freckles, Pepper and Denise

What wonderful news about Pepper. So happy when I read your update. Freckles really is a very special girl. She is so strong and such a little fighter. I feel that she is going to be just fine. She knows her mommy and Pepper need her.

So great to read such positive updates. Please let us know how she is doing after the ultrasound results.

(((hugs))))
