Boxer Booster
The exact same thing happened to Rocky a couple years ago and he looked just like Zoe does. He was all swollen, his eyes were purple and almost completely closed and we thought he looked like a Boxer who had just lost a fight ;)
We took him to the emergency clinic and they told us they could either give him a shot of Benadryl or we could just give him some (in pills form) every 4 hours. We voted for option 2 and he got better. They told us the same thing that he was probably stung by something but to this day we don't know what happened.

Keep Zoe on Benadryl and your baby will be fine. Keep us posted though.

Boxer Insane
dosage

Hi Susan,
I just noticed your question about dosage of the Benedryl. Our vet said to give 10mg per 10 lbs of dog. For Goliath that is 75mg or three of the over the counter 25mg capsules. It always works and usually with just one dose. djk

Continuing Hives

I am getting real unsettled as it has been about a week that my 11-month old has been suffering with hives. It seems they started the day after she was out tracking in some tall grass. Perhaps she got bit by something. I don't know! She got an antihistimine shot two days ago and pills. Whenever the pills stop working - there she goes! Covered in lumps once again! I gave her a good bath this morning hoping that might help. Nothing else has changed. It seems boxers have a lot of allergy problems. The rest of the replies here seem to have dogs that overcome the hives at least within a short period. But my Sadie isn't! Help! Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what it might be from?
