Help with Muddy Feet

We use baby wipes on Max, he will just wait till I start cleaning and he actually will lift his paws after each one, we have a routine.

We have tried everything! We put Carpet plastic stuff over their entire room with some luck, we wiped their feet but because they go in and out as they please while we are gone that only works when we are home, we had to put up a fence around the back porch so that they cant get into the giant mud pit we call a backyard right now! They get to go into the grass in the front yard and the park! but it has been a constant battle! They have both grown acustomed to getting their feet washed in the tub every night too! Ali actually enjoys her nightly trip to the tubs a little too much!

We use good ole' fashoined baby wipes. We keep a box of un-scented baby wipes w/ aloe at the back door to wipe the feet before the dogs come in. I'm a neat-freak though...

We keep a towel by Nestle's dog door and she knows "wipe your paws." Although, she has a dog door and we are not home All the time.... the kitchen looks like there could have been 1000 dogs in the house on a rainy day... I say gett a Swiffer wet and keep it handy!!!

I'd imagine pine needles would work well. If you put enough out it creates a almost a carpet ontop of the mud. You'd have to replace them a couple times a year, but they aren't too terribly expensive.

I don't know what you could put on the ground, but I have the same problem...wet/muddy feet. I just leave an old dishtowel hanging by the door and wipe Greta's feet everytime she comes in. She now will sit down and wait for her feet to be wiped off before getting of the mat in front of the door.

That's what I do too- I wish Luka would sit and let me do it tho :rolleyes:

I have a walk out basement and I take him out that way I also have a towel ready but when it raining Cassius sit near the bathroom door and wants to be blow dryed!!

In addition to the old dishtowel (which I have too) my mom got me the neatest thing for X'mas. It's a green mitt in the shape of a really huge dog paw. You slip it on your hand (like a mitt) and use it to wipe paws - it's super absorbant and works better than the towel. I'll have to ask her where she got it because it works very well.

Muddy feet

We too do the "mud dance" everytime they come in. I keep treats by the door and they only get one if they come in and sit down for the feet wiping, I haven't found anything that would help the mud in the yard and Angel is a digger with lots of fur between her toes (It just grows fast). I have found that a rug covered in a puppy training pad (the one used for housebreaking) make a good first barrier for my floor. The best part about the training pads are that they are disposable. We keep a towel by the door and when they have sat down I do Angels feet first and then Natas, I sing them a little song that doesn't make much sense but they know which foot I am going to pick up and wipe off next. Natas has to wait for Angel to get her feet done and she has to wait for him before they get their treats. If they don't stop and sit for the feet wiping and I have to go and get them, well there is no treat. They learn very quickly.

same here....

I wipe Marley's feet every time he comes in from outside. It took a while for him to get used to it though, so be patient. Now it's a routine and he practically lifts his paws for me!
