Pottys in kennel

I had a problem with my male boxer when he was a puppy doing his business in his kennel at night. He spent the entire day running around with my husband and potting outside, then at night he would do both jobs like he had not been out in days. My husband and I were truly fustrated as you. We took him to the vet for his scheduled puppy check up and found that he was sick. Because hee was sick, he was unable to control his bowel movements. Has your pup had a check up recently? Just a thought though.... Good luck and remember they eventual grow out of those annoying little habits.

Well the problem seems to have stopped, although I am not sure why..... First off, he had a check-up last week and the vet said he is healthy as a horse and has a fantastic disposition, and is very calm and well behaved for being so young. Of course that made me feel wonderful:D So we got home and since his first crate was way to small it was time for him to graduate to the big one. I took him out and he ran and played for 1/2 hour, did his business and we came in. I put him in the new crate, right next to his best buddy buka who went in his for a rest also. I gave them each a crate toy and came in to check my e-mail. Not 10 minutes later caine started throwing his "I pee-ed in my crate and you can't leave me here...hahahaha" fit. Now let me say I had already had a rough morning ...I got up late, ran out of milk for cereal, had to run my oldest to his buddies house then I took two dogs and a 10mos old baby to the vets because the babysiter cancelled 10 min before I had to be at the vets... and all before 10:00 am. So needless to say I was in a tizzy. I went in ,grabbed him by the scruff of his wrinkley neck (no I did not ring it ,but yes I did want to!!!) and I got in his face and yelled at him. then i marched him by the collar out to his spot and yelled at him that this is where you do this..... Then for the first time since we've had him I left him in the yard(fenced) all alone. He was out there for about 10 minutes while I cleaned the crate and calmed down.
Well that was the last time he did it.:) I am not sure exactly what did the trick or even if he just out grew the habit.
He has even gotten to stay penned in the kitchen for short trips, and he hasn't pee-ed once although he ate 2 paper bags and my mop which he had to dig out with his paws from a 3 inch gap beside the fridge:rolleyes: , but hey at least he didn't pee...LOL. now on to the next stubborn boxer training milestone....and the next....and the next....;)

Crate peeing

Well I'am glad all is well for now anyway, But I wanted to share this- Some boxer's /dogs can be sensitive to preservatives in there food, treats etc.... I have experienced this I swear! I made a food change and the peeing started alittle at first, I had a vet appt. with another dog and asked about this, the first thing he asked me was about food change? so I changed right away and the peeing stopped, I also exp. this when I tried a diff. treat. so needless to say I stick with all nat. preserved food and treats, which I reccomend anyway since we are dealing with dogs prone to cancer, and we all know preservatives are linked with cancer. Good Luck to you all. Cindy
