Hi everybody!!!! My last post got no replies, but a lot of views...I like the name Josie but hubby isn't too keen about it. He prefers Sophie. Does anybody know if there are a lot of Sophies on BW???? I wanted something a bit more original, so that is why I was thinking Sophia Snuffelufagus. We'll see. Anybody have cute ideas? I have 2 cats....Zoe and Chloe. Let me know! Thanks, Jami

Hi, I have been reading over your posts on choosing a name and want you to know you are not alone. I always have such a hard time picking the right name.
I think Sophie is very cute, but the only way to see if you are really comfortable with a name in my opinion is to say it out loud. Act like you are calling her...lol. Names can look very cute written down, but how do they feel saying them out loud.
My boxer is famale and her name is Sidda, Sidda Lee actually. It was a character is a movie full of southern people and I thought my little Sidda looked like a droopy eyed, porch lazing hound...lol. I have yet to come across another Sidda!
I like the names Irelyn, Sloane, Paris and Jaida as possible ideas for future female boxers. Hoss is kinda cute too and a play on how tough boxers ladies can appear.
Good luck!
Amy and Sidda

thanks

Hi there! Thanks....I like how Sophie sounds when I say it. So maybe it will work out. I am leaning towards Sophie Raya....she has a little tiny stripe down her nose and "raya" is the Spanish word for stripe (I think), and she was born on May 5. So.......I added the Snuffleufagus stuff cause I think it is so funny. Sophie Snuffy....we'll see. Really I am just passing the time thinking about it because I don't have her here yet. I can't wait though....one more week and she's ours! Thanks again, Jami

I remember when I got my first dog, my aunt told me to consider how I'd feel standing at the back door yelling the dog's name. Apparently she's not happy with the name decision she and her daugher came up with when she has to yell it!

I guess in some ways I had it easy - mine are both rescues and I kept the names they already had. My Dad had a hard time with that when I adopted Dallas - Dad is a hardcore Washington Redskins fan and just hates that his "grand-dog" is Dallas!

My other funny name story is when my grandmother came to visit and brought a friend with her. She'd apparently talked about her family a lot to her friend...but the details didn't quite sink it correctly. This little old lady walked right up to me and said "Oh, you must be Sally." NOPE! I'm Susan...Sally was our boxer at the time. Oh well - it's nice to know my grandmother even included our dog when she told her friend all about us!

I really like Sophie!

I like Sophie too. It took us forever to come up with an original name for Ronin. My DH wanted Tank, Dozer (the Matrix) or Dutch. We both liked Dutch and then I found a boxer on another doggie site named Ronin. We both liked it, so finally agreed on a name. Josie is really cute too - but it should be a name that you BOTH like! :) Good luck!

thanks for the input!

Hey there.........thanks for all the input. I am having a harder time with this than I thought I would! In any event, I need to come up with something sooner than I thought. We get the pup on Sunday afternoon, not Wednesday! Thanks again, still looking......Jami

Snuffalupagus was on our list too! Too cute... we thought it could be shortened to snuffy.. which is good for boxers b/c of their breathing sounds. Sophie is a great name! Let us know what you choose!

Hi! Thanks! I love the Snuffalufagus part too.....not too many other people do. Not as her main name, I guess. Just thought it would be funny. Thanks again. I will keep you all posted. Jami

I think that naming your pet sometimes is the hardest part, especially when everyone in the family has their favorites.. some how you'll just know when the right name comes along.. My daughter named Our Boxer Riley who is really her dog although I'm the one who rasied him so I think he kind of adopted me <G> We have 3 dogs all together and one of our dogs got their name from the crayon box the color burnt "Sienna".. we picked it because of her coloring cause she was that redish brown color. We also have a Katie.. just cause I always liked that name..They have some great names on this site.. good luck with what ever you choose..

Names

We ended up naming our girl Cinnamon..actually "Sweet Cinnamon Spicegirl". But she is 5 months now and doesn't come unless she feels like it anyways. For some reason I want to call her Benjamin
