Hi everyone,

My wife and I have just adopted an 8 week old Boxer, and are currently on Day 4. She is fawn coloured with a half white half black face. My wife did a lot of research before we made a decision, but when we saw Layla we were both smitten.

We are currently just puppy pads for training (a bit hit and miss), and are going through the mouthing and biting phase, although the biting only occurs when playing. We have read various tips:
placing something else in her mouth
using a 'NO', we read somewhere a gutter noise works well (we haven't had any success with that)
and even rolling her over on to her back until she calms down.

It's only been 4 days and we understand she is so young, we just want to get a handle on these things so we can have the best possible relationship with her,

The crate training is excellent, we put it up and sat with her, she ran straight in and will go in of her own accord.

We welcome any advice from walkies to playing to pooping ;)

Welcome to BoxerWorld and congratulations on your new addition! If you haven't already, browse the Training and Behavior forums to find some answers to your puppy questions. I'm sure that as soon as you post a new topic you will find most of us answering with the same experience. ;) As for the biting/chewing, I'll go ahead and link you to a great article on bite inhibition:

Hope to see some pictures up soon! :D

A bit of advice....

I forgot to add, make SURE to take LOTS of pictures AND videos as soon as possible!! I can't tell you how thankful I am that I was camera-obsessed when Caney (now 1 1/2) was small -- clumsy-puppy videos are the best! :)

chew toys

They will continue biting on everything until they lose their baby teeth. We have puppy rings or chew toys to put in Coopers mouth when he needs an oral fixation. He has lost 3 teeth. Good luck.
