Hello,New to Boxers

We are so glad to hear Nitro is tip top. Their wrestling as usual so I know their happy to hear it. We're leaving for vacation tomorrow so will be back next wednesday. Probably with stories of doggie meyhem. Were staying in an inside hotel and I'm anxious to see if the good doggie citizens behave. We took a stroll today and they both sat down and whined at a couple with a baby like they were asking permission to come over. So funny my fur babies are like my kids. Behave sooo much better around others.................Take care:D

Thanks for the great reponce maynegirl4,Me and Nitro feel very welcome and are happy to have found this site.
And yes it was VERY good news to us.Needless to say after reading all I have about Boxers over the last month and the drive to the vet today was a nervous one to say the least,but He picked up on it and keeped giving me kisses and laying head head in my lap,And kinda mouning and talking to me,So I thought completely postive about the outcome of the vet visit and it changed his attitude completely,By wanting to play bite me and bark at me sit up in the seat and out of the blue just hit me with his paw and bark and try to jump into my lap and give me kisses and hugs(Have to get some type of car seat for him at times-LOL I can only find the MED. size car restaints,Bearly fit him,Need to find a large one.I worry when he is in the car,My son don't go without a set belt Nitro should not either.Kinda strange how he acts human at times.
If you are acting sad he will completly change you around.You should see his hugs,He puts both arms aroung your neck/shoulder area and lays his head right up on the side of your neck.Until he feels you smile then it is all kisses and play wrestle time.Very unique Dude.

Thanks everone for all your time, help and in couragement and just listening to a new Boxer owner go on and on about feeling great emotions of being a Boxer owner after waiting so long for one.(Just a 4 four legged friend in general speaking,Has been about 12 years since I owned one,lost a long time friend as a teenager and avoided it for a long time because of the emotional lose,I knew I was missing out,But BOY has Nitro changed that !!)

I see you are definitely another victim of Boxer-Love!! I can tell you are thoroughly under the spell of Nitro, with no chance of escape. And Congratulations! that's great news about Nitro's cardio work-up! One less thing to worry about for now

Hooray for Nitro!

So glad to here that your boy is so healthy and so happy. Your pictures of him look great. Especially the one where he's laying his head on the floor and his lips are a smooshed out around him -- too cute!! I just have to say that your care and concern over him just make me think you are truly an exceptional human being. Your obvious love for him just really touches me. I'll bet you make everyone in your life feel so very lucky to have you in their world. Nitro is one lucky boxer!

Thanks for everyones support and time.
For general readers that might be reading this thread.And think we are not replying.
Me and Nitro are trying to keep it down on post and not Hog the spot light-LOL,So I PM everone that responds.For general thanks and so forth.But it is hard not to get on here and chit chat about Boxers.It has truely lit a new passion that has been hidding for awhile !!

Hello,Everone !
Me and Nitro and Family have been real,Busy,So we havent been on here for awhile.
But I was wondering at what age do Boxers go threw therebiggest growth sprit?
His records say he was born on 7-8-02 but the registry says 8-8-02 So somwhere around lets 8 mo.s old right now.And man is he growing like wild fire-that is good to me.With his activity level he eats like a horse.But is not fat at all !!Muscle growth is flat amazing me right now.He is doing great,My 8 year old son really keeps him busy along with walks and training sessions with me,He is really busy.
He has a fasination with sticks beyond beleif Ha Ha. And has become one of the highest jumpers of anydog I have ever seen.He is right now out jumping my German sheperds I had as a child.I am 6'3'' and holding out a stick from a sitting position he can jump to height and get it.Quit amazing to me.And tug of war my son no longer wins at that.
Just thought I would say hello to everyone and chat about my boy some.

Sounds like previous owner did not have the patience and understanding that is a must when raising a good healthy pet! You will find the boxer is best in breeds!! Glad all is going well... my boxer boy Sammy was full grown in height at 1 year old, but he still had some filling out to do and didn't completely stop growing until 2 to 2 and a half years old. It takes some time. Exercise is great, just be sure not to over do it while he's still growing. Yea, boxers can jump pretty high! My parents got a boxer soon after they got married, his name was Rocky and he was the runt, so he only grew to weigh 50 pounds... but he must have had springs for legs... he could jump up 6 feet in the air and look over the fence, it was 6 feet tall. He was small but boy could he jump! :p
