Boxer Pal
I've been using BW as a resource for several months now but just recently signed up and have only "dug deep" into the forums this weekend. Good reading!
I'm in South Carolina but a North Carolina native.
Married one year and the wife and I have had Penny Lane, flashy fawn female (D.O.B. 11/11/03), for most of that time. Sadie, though, is the first dog I have owned on my own. She is over 3 years old, half Boxer/half Chow Chow, and I adopted her from a local humane society right before Sept. 11, 2001. She has been a great companion from the start and has the greatest disposition of any animal I've ever met. Loyal, loving, and faithful are words that can't begin to do her justice. Amazing, too, b/c she shows no signs of a Chow Chow's disposition and never has had the energy bursts of a typical Boxer. Just a big girl who wishes she could always be a lap dog! She may not be a purebred but I wouldn't trade her for anything.
Penny is a great big ball of energy who has given us and Sadie great companionship from the beginning. Penny was given to us by my parents who, being naive, bought her from a BYB. Despite the health problems (allergies and a heart murmur), she has been a wonderful child and we have no regrets (not that we would ever purchase from a BYB again). We're constantly amazed at the intelligence of this pup! Stubborn and prideful but smart as a whip!
I've always been a dog lover through and through but now, because of Sadie and Penny, my heart is attached to Boxers as the most special of breeds. I hope to continue to learn more about the breed and at some point, to become involved in showing. I'm very grateful to have found BoxerWorld and I look forward to continuing to learn and participate.
