Boxer Pal
Hi all! I'm Georgia and Dozer's mom, and I love your community and am so happy to join it. Georgia is a Christmas baby, so she's coming up on 5 months old. She's a fawn with about 10% flash. Georgia's brother is Dozer, a year old american bull dog/boxer mix.
Georgia came to our family four weeks ago today, in an extraordinary way. I have always wanted a boxer; my grandparents raised and showed them for most of their lives. My grandfather, with whom I was very close, died last April, and we rescued Dozer in June. We were having a really hard time finding a boxer, and he's a beautiful dark brindled mix. We fell in love even though he wasn't what we were looking for.
My husband kept trying to convince me that Dozer deserved a brother or sister; I resisted becaue I couldn't imagine our household being any crazier (we also have two cats who Dozer loves; the problem is the cats aren't so fond of him; more specifically, they're not crazy about being boxed).
So I was dead set against getting a second dog. You know, they say the best way to make God laugh is to tell Him your plans. As I was walking through the neighborhood gathering kids for our church's sports ministry, I saw a beautiful female boxer and a puppy on someone's front porch. I went over to pet them, and the owner offered me the puppy. She had just had a human baby, and she hadn't been able to find a buyer for this last of the litter. My heart melted; it was the day after the one-year anniversary of my grandpa's death. How could I say no? His name was George; we brought her home and named her Georgia. Now I can't imagine it any other way!
