I just gotta share this...first off, Kirra has had a busy few days since arriving home. She has been meeting and greeting all kinds of people, trip to the vet, hanging out in the yard and harrassing Riley. So tonight after supper we played for awhile and then Kirra decides to curl up beside me on the floor. After I looked at her and saw she was ready for a nap I decided to get on the couch, so as I got up, Kirra sat up and Riley jumped on the couch with me. Kirra continued to sit on the floor in an upright position. I called her several times and she just starred at me! So I clapped my hands a few times and she still didn't acknowledge me. The next thing I know, Kirra is leaning over like she is falling. OMG my heart stopped, I jumped up to get her and that's when I realized...she was just dog tired :) Poor baby, I picked her up and cuddled her and she fell asleep within seconds.

Glad to hear it was nothing. I read an article a while back on that very subject where a 5 year old female thought to be in good health was out for a walk and did require assistance. In the article they called it "Mouth To Snout reccessatation". The description given was that "Bella" started having very labored breathing for a few minutes, and then just collapsed. Bella's moms friend had luckily heard of some form of breathing assistance for dogs, gave it a try, and fortunately it worked. They said within a few minutes that Bella was acting as though nothing had happened.

The point to all this is they gave some info about a Pet First Aid book available through Red Cross. I contacted my local office and was informed the book cost $15. A small price if it could save not only your baby, but maybe someone elses also.

Thanks for the story as I forgot about going get this book myself, and now it's on the top of the list for tommorow.
