My boy was the same when we lost my girl last winter-so sad to see him moping and mourning-but I guess they go through it like we do in thier own way. We got another boxer pup in June and it gave him a new lease on life though the relationship is definetly different. Made me realize that they are complicated, like us, in thier relationships. Not as simple as one might think. I know we will always have two pups though. I would like to have ten :) !

Our last dog had a heart murmur and we were only told when she was 16 yrs old (she lived to almost 18yrs old) at a check up. I couldn't believe that the vets hadn't ever picked it up before.

Not all murmurs are there from birth. Chances are the dog developed the murmur as she aged -- maybe from damage done from an old infection, drugs she had been given for something else, or simply old age. If it was a murmur worth hearing, I'm sure somebody would have picked it up in all those years!
