Heart Failure and when is when...

Hey Boxer Lovers,

So I've posted quite a bit over the last year asking about cardiomyopathy, MCTs, and basically whatever I can't find the answer to form my vet or google to you guys. I want to first thank you all for your help during this journey we've taken with my "heart" doggy Roxy.

The little girl took a turn for the worst on Friday night and had a bad collapse, basically fell from the sofa from what I could see....I've been trying to sleep next to her but I didn't wake up at first this time and she fell. Well, since then she is consistently coughing and doesn't want to eat again. I know the end is near and we're living on borrowed time on all the meds she is on.

My question is for those of you who have lost a beloved to Heart Failure, how did they go? As painful as it is, I don't want her to end up just coughing until she passes out....We're scheduled at the cardio later this week as that's the soonest they could get us in and I'm afraid they're going to tell me to put her down...I just want her to go peacefully, if she must, in her sleep but if that isn't an option for her, as my heart breaks, I'll do whats humane here. Just wondering if anyone has any experience that the coughing subsided or anything.

i'm trying to figure out how to delete this post. I talked to the cardiologist finally instead and we are upping one of her meds. If anyone knows how to delete, let me know.

Thanks,

There is no deleting as far as I know. I hope the new dose works and your baby is feeling better. But to answer the orginal question, as with any ailment, your pup will usually let you know from the look in their eyes. You can see when they have given up.

Our Fred had this...died on the lobby floor of the vets office while waiting to be euthanized...we obviously waited too long...he could only walk a few steps without having to stop and rest

Oh I'm so sorry dlcenters, thats heartbreaking. She did end up passing in her sleep a week ago or so now....I hope it was peaceful and she knows we did what we can.

I am so sorry for your loss! She is now running pain free and healthy again at the Rainbow bridge.
Godspeed Roxy!
