We own a female boxer who is now 9 months old. When she was 3 months old, she had head tremors, which worried us a lot. She used to have these tremors, whenever sitting, befor falling asleep, or lying, tens of times a day, but not when she was asleep.
Of course, this worried us a lot, and we rushed to our vet, who had never seen such a thing on a boxer, and called the best Animal hospital in Israel, which is affiliated to the vet school. There is a neurologic vet doctor there, who suggested we brought the puppy for an examination under anaesthesia. But we did not want to do so, because the puppy was so happy, did not seem to suffer from the tremors, and developed just as expected.

I am glad to say, that without has disappeared with time.
Our Tana is a happy, good hearted and lively dog now.

I am sure there are more boxer owners who experience such head tremors, and worry just like we did. I hope our case is not the only one and that all the others dogs will be as healthy and normal as our Tana.

This is our first Boxer after many other dogs. We too, think, that a boxer has quite a different behavior, and we love it. She "talks" constantly, and shows her love to us in so many ways.

Our boxer Coleman experienced head tremors about 2 years ago. They happened quite frequently and it was very scary. We took him to the vet and she thought perhaps it was an allergic reaction to something and she had us moniter him closely and write down the length of tremors and when they occurred.

Well needless to say we started looking at what we were using in the house and feeding him etc. We discovered that whenever I sprayed "Febreeze" air cleaner on the sofas, he had a tremor. I stopped using it, and guess what? No more tremors. I had been about a year and a half and all was well, when I purchased a different named product, but similar concept and sprayed the couch. Not thinking.... Once again Coleman had a tremor. I have thrown it out and he has no more tremors. I am perplexed every time I see a commercial selling this stuff and promoting it for spraying furniture etc., because as far as I am concerned there is a chemical in the product that causes these tremors. Hope that helps anyone who is going through this.

Harley had some episodes with head tremors and turned out she had ear infections in both ears due to allergies... I was thinking the worst, but was really relieved when I found out it was an ear infection. It could have been so much worse.

Boxer head tremors and vomiting

Hi, My boxer is a 7 year old male and has recently been vomiting and having head tremors. We first thought he had to go to be taken out really bad and when we did it stopped. Then a couple days later his head started to shake and didn't need to go out. He has been vomiting for a couple weeks now every so often. We are going to take to vet on Sunday but want to know if anyone has had this problem. I thought it was White dog Shaker Syndrome but I'm not sure. Any advice?

Thanks Crystal

My boxer boy has also started having head tremors. The first case was the other night when he was startled awake. He tremored for about 2 minutes. Needless to say I didn't sleep much because I was worried about him. I called the vet and they said to monitor him and write down when it happens. Well, he had another one last night. I was going up to bed and he woke up to follow me and his head started to tremor. Only lasted about 30 seconds and he could walk. He is absolutly fine during the day, playing outside with the kids. It is at night after he has been sleeping, then wakes up. He is just 17 months old. Very strange.

We are going thru this right now. My 2 1/2 year old boxer Hannah-Banana has had 5 episodes of head/body tremors. It always happens after she's been asleep. We've had extensive blood tests done & took her to a Neurologist on 3/29/05. He told us that he's not too concerned about the tremors because they are not what he considers seizures. Some tremors are unexplainable but he'd like to do an MRI and/or Spinal Tap if the tremors continue. Both of these procedures have risks & we are not sure we want to do them yet. Hannah had another tremor this morning lasting appx. 10 minutes. Now my husband & I have to decide what step to take next. Any information or suggestions would be highly welcome.
Thanks, Callista - Tootie & Hannah's Mom
