My boy Koda just started experiencing head tremors this past Tuesday. I took him to the vet on Friday as they wanted me to monitor him during the week. He had one every evening. On Friday he had one in the morning and early afternoon. The vet did an EKG and found an irregularity in his heartbeat, then did blood work. Everything was normal except his alkaline, amylase, and creatine were elevated. The vet couldn't figure out how all the symtoms go together for a common bond so he is sending us to a specialist. We are going to see a neurologist next week and also getting an ultrasound of his heart. He is 17 months old.

Here is the thing. My yard got sanded on Tuesday because it was icy. Every time my boy goes out he eats the snow. He started with the tremors Tuesday night. I am beginning to think there might be a link. I have decided to walk him on a leash and limit his snow intake to see what happens. I started last night and so far no tremors. I also wipe his feet when he comes in so he can't lick it off.

I am writing this in case someone else is experiencing this. I want them to be able to look at other possibilities of the head tremors and where they may be getting into toxins. I am not sure if this is the case, but I am checking it out.

I believe toxins could be a cause. I found that when I changed Austin's food the head tremors stopped. I hope your baby is ok.

We had those too!

Mason started with those every once in a while and as soon as he gets adjusted by a chiropractor they stop! It has something to do with his atlas (the first bone in the spine) and a muscle spasm. It seems to happen if he is awakened quickly or gets startled.

Works for us--hope you find it helpful too!

head tremors

His first episode he was startled awake also. The other ones were also upon awakening, and they happened after he had been outside. I will find out more next week. Thanks for the reply. I get so worried.

glad to help

I hope you can find someone in your area for canine chiro. Let me know if you need any help. My doctor knows lots of people!

I hope you give it a try becuase it has made all the difference in the world for my boy!
While being neutered, Mason went into respiratory arrest and the vet could not get him to come around. Heart was beating but no breathing, so the vet started chest compressions and mouth to mouth! Luckily my chiropractor was also in the room and adjusted the points in the spine responsible for operating the diaphram and also that top bone of the spine. Within 10 seconds he took a big breath on his own!!! Absolute miracle! The body is an incredible thing if it is working correctly! The chiropractic adjustment allowed his body to begin working again!

Sorry to chew your ear off---just a great story that keeps me faithful in getting my dogs and cats adjusted! Have a great day!

I Am So Glad To Hear I Am Not The Only One, I Have 8 Year Old Male, 115lbs, Who Has Had A Few Episodes Over His Lifetime. He Had Recent Battle With 18 Bladder Stones, And An Emergency Surgery, 3 Months Of Antibiotics, And Still Some Prostrate Issues. After This Whole Ordeal I Am So Very Protective When Things Happen, Each Time He Has Had An Episode It Has Been After Waking Out Of A Deep Sleep, Running Straight To Me As If He Needs Help And Then It Happens. I Have Taken Him To The Vet And He Is Perfect No One Has Been Able To Find A Thing, 2 Seperate Vets Due To Moving.. I Will Definitely Look Into This Option, It Is So Scary To See Them Doing This And There Is Nothing To Do But Hold Them And Hope It Ends Soon.
Good Luck To You And Your Baby, I Will Be Sending Healing Vibes Your Way.

Head Tremors

There has been many posts here on the subject of head tremors. I took my baby girl Sasha to a nuerologist also, (she has tremors often) I am very interested in what yours has to say!

If the tremors are unrelated to the murmors, it's probably something that you will never know what the cause is.

We just had Hugo to the neurologist at OSU for ideopathic head tremors and they had another Boxer there at the same time with the same thing. They said as long as it wasn't happening more than once a month, they don't recommend meds. They said it's more common in Boxers and Bulldogs.

On the upside, Hugo hasn't one one in months.

Update on head tremors

Just got back from the cardiologist. Koda has an arythmia. They said his heart looked good it just has irregular heartbeats. They have put him on a beta blocker to get his heart regular again. We will see what happens. They did mention cardio myopothy (sp.) but not as a diagnosis at this time where he is so young. They also said it could be a viral infection making this happen. They just want to control the irregularity at this point as his heart stopped for 3 seconds while doing the ultrasound. They said it is possible this was causing the head tremors also. That's all I know for now. I have to see my vet once a week to monitor him to see if he is responding to the meds. Thanks to everyone who responded to my mail. I am praying everything works out.
