Jake is 7 months now and still hates the rain. I took Cleo and Jake out, Cleo peed, Jake held it in so I figured I'd try later. Well instead, he peed all up my oak staircase and I went flying! That was Tues night and I'm still walking like an 80 year old! When I first got him he was skin and bones at 11 pounds (11 weeks old) and he refused to go outside. I felt SO bad! I had to let him go on my front porch! I'm hoping this winter is better since he'll be much bigger. Silly dogs.

How funny!!! My new pup's name is Dozer too and we are having the same problem. Dozer actually, as he cowered by the door, put his paw up over his eyes!! Of course the second we take him in he pees on the kitchen floor.

my boxer/dane mix is the same way.. and even if it isnt raining.. she wont go on the grass because its "wet" and she will actually pee and poop on our concrete deck!

Ronin could care less about the rain, but I used to have a female boxer named Brandy. From the time she was little, if we made her go out in the rain she would give us this "are you kidding" ?! look. She would only venture under the eaves of the house - would NOT go out onto the wet grass

Lol!!!

Living in Nth Qld when it rains here it rains for days! Chief would hold out for hours & hours it used to be painful to watch so eventuall we tarped a section off the pergola so that even when raining he could still go out & pee without getting wet but still be able to pee on the greenery! but if it was really wet & muddy forget it! those precious paws were not getting muddy for anyone...oh how i miss him!!
but molly it never worried & still doesnt... when a womans gotta go shes gotta go!

Doing the 'business' in the rain.

My Isis, was the exact same way. I would take her outside and the first thing that she would do is run for cover. That included peeing on the porch. So, I put her on the leash and sat out in the rain with her until she went. After she went (about 10 mins or so), I just gave ALOT of praise. The key for me was to keep her crated so that she wouldn't be tempted to use the bathroom in her crate and then take her outside where she was 'learning' where she needed to go. The key is praise when they do it. Some may think of sitting in the rain as cruel, but it is either that or having her go on herself in the crate while i'm at work and sitting in it until I get back.
