Having Troubles With Media Player!

For some reason I have no sound in Media Player!! We also had Kazaa but got rid of it as there was no sound in that either! However, there is sound for everything else on the puter...windows alert sounds, etc. My son also has a program installed (Guitar Pro 4) and that plays sound no problem. I cannot figure this out at all and am extremely frustrated!! :mad: Someone mentioned a sound card problem but how can that be when all other audio is working?
I hope someone can offer me a solution...I would really appreciate it!

I too had this problem for MONTHS - I tried everything, new sound card, old card, used card. Uninstalled media players, reinstalled, and so on. I even removed all my programs one by one and reinstalled each one to see if there was a conflict. I finally decided to do the drastic!! Yes, I upgraded from Win98 to WinXP and guess what...ta da, I have sound. I'm not sure what the problem was other than maybe I was missing a component ??? But that is what fixed my problem. To date all is well with XP and media players. Good Luck.

Well, I can't afford an upgrade right now...so I uninstalled Media Player all together...installed Real Player...we now have sound!! :D There must have been a conflict somehow...somewhere, with Media Player? Ahh well, now I have sound and we're happy with it so far!
