Having Trouble Potty Training

OK - I am having a little trouble training Diva to go outside. Well, she knows that she has to go outside, everytime I take her out, she goes, and always gets praise and treats for it. But, when we come back in she will play around for a little while and squat wherever seems fit at the time. I am not talking a matter of hours either, it is always LESS than an hour. She is giving me no sign or warning either.
She can definitely hold it, she does every night when we are sleeping and when I am at work. I take her outside as soon as she gets let out of her crate - so it is not like I am not taking her out. When we are home, I take her out quite frequently. It seems that it does not matter how often I take her out - she will seem to still go in the house too.

Any suggestions??

I would try a search, since there have been many posts on this issue. Puppies while they can hold their urine at night are very different when active. All of my boys, when they were pups, would play and romp and have to pee even if they had gone out one hour previous. When she is active you may want to take her out during the activity, or when you see her squat make a noise (your no noise to startle her and hopefully she will stop) and immediately take her to the door and outside. When she goes...lots of praise ect. and bring her back in. You can further this by teacjing her to goto the door and knock to go out, in the end it is alot of work and consistency but they learn very quickly. Good luck
Just as an aside, teaching them to knock at the door is a double edged swaord. My Ramos seems to knock every five minutes, now he has me trained although most of the time he will just go out and play!

I would take her out sooner. When I brought Kirra home I took her out every 10 - 15 minutes. Slowly we worked up to every half hour, then hour and now she seems to be okay for about 1 1/2 hour - she is almost 16 weeks. Watch for her signs...sniffing, circling, squatting - grab her and out she goes. She'll get there .

i had a similar problem with my little boy. i just took him outside every 30 mins and crated after every meal. he would never go in his crate. it took a month or so but he figured out that he was not suppose to go in the house. it just take patience. they literally forget they have to potty, then they start to play and out of no where remember they have to go. it gets annoying but if you love your little one like i love mine, you will give her time. i would say take her out more often. don't forget what sullivanspop says about the the critical times. you have to be religous about it.

I have a 4 month old girl and I have found that keeping her on the leash or in my sight at all times definately helps. She has only had 3 accidents in the house since bringing her home and they happened when I let her out of my sight. I do give her playtime off the leash, I make sure she stays in the same room as I am in. I also take her outside every hour when she is awake,sometimes she goes,sometimes she won't. The first few months it can seem like you are outside so many times during the day, but it is worth it in the long run.
