I usually don’t give Zoey “people” food, but last week I made a roasted chicken and gave her some of the chicken juice on her food that night. She, of course, loved it. I gave her some more juice last Friday night and that was the end of it, as I usually freeze the left over juice for soup or whatever. Well Saturday am, ohhhhh no, no chicken juice, well then I’m not eating. She did eat dinner Saturday night, straight up puppy food.

Yesterday and today (breakfast) she picked and left much of her food, so I gave in and thawed the chicken juice that was in the freezer and her dish looks as if she washed it herself after having dinner. HELP!!!!!!! I know this is not good and I also have seen dog ‘gravy’ at Pet Smart and Petco. Has anyone tried any of these?

You have become your puppy's slave....:p

You need to stop it and just put down her normal food and pick it up after 15 minutes regardless of how much is eaten, then give it back to her at her next meal time until she learns to eat whatever you put down.

You can still give her special treats in her food, but one I would wait until you've retrained her to eat her normal food and two I would rotate between different treats like chicken juice, yogurt, cheeze... or whatever it may be... good luck..

Thanks. I had to giggle when you said pick it up and then give it to her again later. All I could think of was the movie Mommy Dearest, when Christina would not eat her meat for dinner and then it was served to her again for breakfast. Sorry, guess you had to see the movie.

On a serious note, you are soooo right. I was thinking that maybe something was wrong, until I put the juice on her dinner tonight. It kills me that all it takes is just a few times and the few times were few and far between. We try to be good about giving "people" food. Well there goes mother of the year award.

Thanks :)

It's not all bad.
I for a LONG time bought low sodium chicken and beef broth and used it on my Coopers food as I did not want to buy canned food.
It only took a splash and a good stirin to make him think he had the greatest stuff in the world.
Gotta stay one step ahead of them at all times!! Hee hee or you will become a slave to them.

You will earn your mother of the year award in no time, your owned by a boxer and they train you right!!

Good luck

I have to confess I am a slave to my two. Well it all started when we brought our girl home at 11wks. The breeder said she mixed 1 heaping tablespoon of canned food in with her kibble. So it began, and never stopped. Then after two years we adopted our boy (3yrs old) from Florida Boxer Rescue and his foster mom said she was using MIX IT in with his food to make it easier on his tummy because we had no idea what he was eating and they were trying to fatten him up a bit. I figured I do it for one I can do it for two. Well then my female got pancreatitis. Chick & Rice for 3 wks. Well thats when they Both got hooked on the Broth. So I now do a rotation of Cottage Cheese, Canned Food, Yogurt (male does not like it), Broth, Egg, and the occasional left over from Roast with carrots and potato. Boy They really do have us Trained Well Don't they.

My mother sets aside what we call the "tuna juice" for my dogs. They don't get it every time they go there, but more often than not... yummmmm!

And then I get to deal with their breath :)
