Hates to go outside

I have a 15 wk pup. He absolutely hates to go outside. I know some of it has to do with the cold but we have had a couple nice days lately and still he dispises to go out. We have a 2 yr old lab that he loves to play with outside but he still refuses to go out on his own. I try to lure him out with treats but nothing. I am discouraged on getting him potty trained. He is deaf so calling him to the door is no good. I am in the process of finding him a better coat that he can't pee on to maybe keep him warmer outside?? Any ideas??

A better coat will probably help (and don't forget white babies need sunscreen if they're outdoors a lot), also, are you going outside with him, or putting him out by himself?

First the baby is still young. You have to be patient! You could try bell training, where he rings the bell to let you know he needs to go out. Do a search on the forum for bell training. Also are you going out with him? If not then I would suggest that. You have to stay with him too!

Yeah my husband and I always go out with him to make sure he goes potty. We have to pick him up to go out the door because we can't think of any other way to get him outside. I know I have read somewhere not to carry your puppy to the potty spot but he refuses to go out the door??

It will be ok to carry him outside.

daisy does that too...she loves spending her time outside once she is at it...but when she has to go out she seems reluctant and starts shivering...???? I really don't know why since once out she doesn't whant to come back home....???

I have never heard of that. I don't know of any reason why you can't carry your pup outside. I would just put him down as soon as I got outside.

When Rogue first starting going out we had to carry her. I think it's all too big out there for them - aw!

First thing we do with Rupert is pick him up after he wakes up so he doens't have accidents. We have had him for two weeks now and he only goes outside with us. He would rather be with us in the house. I just thought this was normal for puppies. It is such a huge world out there. I don't blame for be scared.
