Gus doesn't feel good :(

The internist talked to my mom (I was in school). She wanted to do a scope, so my mom told her to go ahead and do it. The scope was 2000 dollars, thats just for that, on top of the hospital stay, meds, tests, etc. I would pay anything for my babies though, it's just such a huge cost. She looked down his throat. She found that his lymph nodes are enlarged, and took a biopsy. I am so scared! BIOPSY! She said if it comes back suspisious they will do a liver biopsy next. She isn't sure if its the muscle thing going on, but said she would send it out if the node biopsy comes back normal. If they do send the blood for the muscle test, it takes 5-7 days. I will know more tomorrow. They are doing blood work again to test that liver enzyme that was extremely elevated. I am so tired right now. I had to go to work this morning, then I visited with Gus, then went to class till midnight, and then went to visit Gus. I have to do it all over again tomorrow. I am so worried about my little buddy. He did seem more alert when I just went to see him at midnight, wiggley and stuff, but still does not feel good or let me touch his smooshy face. I want to kiss his adorable smooshy face so badly. I just rubbed his foot and back legs.... I didn't want to hurt my baby. I will post tomorrow when I know more. The vet said she would call tomorrow around 11. I love my little man so much and miss him curled up against me at night.

Oh Sarah, I am so sorry that you are going through this with Gus. I hope that you get a diagnosis soon and a treatment plan started. Hang in there! We are all here for you if you need to vent.

YAH! Gus is home!

Ok, so we go from yesteday, where they said he would be there at least 2 more days, and then I get a call today at 11am that Gus is ready to come home! She said he was doing so well. He was eating, yawning, etc.. YAH! They still don't really have any answers. We are still waiting on biopsy results, and she still keeps saying the "C" word. She still doesn't feel that he has the masticatory myocitis, she said he wouldn't recover that fast without treatment, but I still asked her to send the test out, just to make me feel better. So, we will get the results of that in a week. From what I read about it, they can have acute "flare ups" of it, but she didn't agree. I guess we just wait now. They want to re-check his liver enzymes in 2 weeks. His ALT was 1300!!! High is 100. She still can't explain that. I am just so happy that he looks like he feels so much better, and it doesn't seem like he is in pain. He still is sensitive around his face, but I know he can use it because he goobles his food up, LOL. She said it may be a behavioral thing now since it hurt so much, he is guarding it now. She said I can work on that later, touching his face and rewarding him for good behaviors. When I picked him up, he kissed my hand!!! I was so excited, he hasn't given me a kiss in days, because it hurt him too much to open his mouth, even a little. I can't wait to be able to kiss is adorable smooshy face!

When we got home , Izzy went NUTS! I didn't think she missed him, but she went crazy. Gus acted almost normal and was so excited too.... they both ran to the back door jumping around like I was going to let them out to run, LOL!!! Gus isn't allowed to run for a week or so. She wants me to leash walk him only.And on the scope they did, they saw bruising at the back of his mouth, deep back on the palate. So, now I am wondering if he was running with a stick and jabbed it in his throat. Thats a scary thought! But doesn't explain the liver test being so high. Anyway, I am so tired, we are all going to go take a nap now. I will post when I get any results back! Thanks so much to everyone who sent all the healing vibes. Please continue to do so.
