I too would have had a comment for the lady. Nobody calls my dog ugly and gets by with it. Sometimes I wonder why those people even go to the pet stores where pets are allowed into.

Ya know, I don't know why people feel they have to voice their negative thoughts!! If they don't like a particular dog, fine, that's their right, but they don't have to say it out loud! If all they have to say is something negative, they need to just keep their mouth shut and walk on by. No need for dumba$$ remarks....sorry!

Zoey is gorgeous, by the way! I too would have said something like, "eeeww, Zoey, look....stupid people!!!" evilicon

We have had the same thing today at the park, poor Millie, she is the most softest, nice natured dog ever, and I'm so proud of her...We had a lovely long walk, and went to the park (different one from our normal one where everyone knows her) Where... all the nasty 'im gonna tear you to shreds' yip yap dogs were hastily drawn away from Millie....Then a HUGE great saint Bernard type dog came along, and the owners literally dragged him away from her, the woman said 'come on teddy bear, come away', like she was a threat to a dog that size!...We wore her out with a good game with her ball, and left....People are so ignorant of breeds, and I find it really hurtful when they look at Millie in distaste, It would be obvious to anyone with a shred of knowledge on dog behaviour that she poses no threat to anyone, and is just wanting to play....I have lost count of times I have bit my tongue so hard, that I swear I have a mouthful of blood...I actually think some of their dogs are ugly, ill trained and lacking in the basics of socialization...but the difference is, my mum brought me up well, unlike some of these idiots..who think they have a right to comment loudly about a perfectly well behaved animal....You have to feel sorry for their dogs, being owned by people who don't even understand dog behaviour, and worse still think that any dog of the 'bull breeds', must be a menace

We have had various incidents over the years with people being nasty about our dogs from “that’s the ugliest dog I have ever seen” to being screamed at by a women to get my dog away from her 2 full grown labradors or she would call the police – Connor was just a wee puppy at the time! I have been reduced to tears by people’s rudeness and aggression several times – I was always brought up that if you don’t have anything nice to say to somebody then don’t say anything at all. Don’t worry Zoey and Millie you are both lovely and these people who don't understand boxers don't know what they are missing out on!

I go through this a couple times a week when i walk Ares...and it get annoying when people keep asking me is he a pit ..one good thing comes from this is that we get to walk in peace with people not wanting to pet Ares due to the fact they think he`s a pit.

I would have simply said, "Zoey is a BOXER. Besides, all breeds are aloud in this pet shop and if you have a problem with it, dont let the door hit you on the way out."

I too agree zoey is georgeous, and this just shows how ignorant some people are, you would think if they couldnt tell the differance between a boxer and a pitt then they would reserve judgement and not say anything at all, but im afraid this isnt always the case as you have proved, if it happens again id just simply stop and bend down to zoey and point at the person and say, look zoey a stupid human who cant tell the differance between you and a pitt, then id give the biggest tut going and walk off, this sort of thing always reminds me of when i was near home after walking tyson, and a kid with a staffy, ask me what tyson was, a boxer i replied, oooo i thought it was a staffy, it really puzzled me as he was walking a staffy and could clearly see the differance lol, anyway chin up dont let it get you down.

Seems that it's usually better to ignore that sort of thing. As said by so many others, she's ignorant. That I can easily ignore and forgive. But the RUDENESS! Harumph!! I really do dislike rudeness and wish there was a good response that did not seem equally as rude. Seems like the best response is just to put your chin up in the air and walk your lovely, well behaved dog on past.

We haven't really got the big question about Mia, but our other baby, Bones, IS a pit. When he goes out for a walk, people ask what he is, and we tell them that he is a pit, and they give us this weird look and usually run the other way. Some of the people I work with think I'm crazy for having a pit when I have a 1 yr old and a 3 yr old. Its very frustrating. I feel so bad for Bones. It seems that people have made a judgement about him before they even meet him. Oh well...its their loss really. He is a sweetheart.
