Green roof! Please help!

I need your help everyone. We had to get our house re-roofed and to make a long story short, my husband got green shingles put on our roof. smashicon ....I know, don't ask. They are aweful! It looks like astro turf on my roof!!! :mad: I am very upset about all of this but, I can't do anything about the shingles now so all I have left to hope for is that we can paint our house this spring. Please, please, I am begging you all--I need some suggestions of colors to paint my house that will hopefully keep the eye away from the putting green on my roof. I just don't want to be stuck with a white house with green trim.

For the love of God, please help me!!

Well I was going to suggest white with green trim, but then I read that is a No No for you. Why don't you post a pic it may make it easier for suggestions.

I am sorry, I don't have any advise for you, but I have to say that is the funniest thing I have read in a looong time.... We got a deal after a storm in MN and all I said was I don't care what color it is as long as it is not green... I feel for ya. Hubby will be paying dearly for this one for a long time to come huh?!?!?!smashicon

Jean, I posted a pic in my gallery. (Hope that's legal) I have to say that the picture doesn't do it justice at all....it's way uglier in real life! :D Notice the complete house is green. The base color, the trim, the ROOF! And then grass!

Thanks for the website suggestions! Hopefully I'll have some luck with those.

And Jenn.....yes, you hit it right on the nose. My husband WILL be paying dearly for this--how long do roofs last.... Maybe we'll get a good hail storm or something this spring!!

I can always hope!

BWAHAHAHA unfortunately for DH a good roof can last 20 years... Unfortunately for you, the color does not determine quality...

Gotta go see this pic!!!!

They won't approve the picture unless there is a pet in the picture. You could always paint the house grey or tan with green trim. It's not a fix, but it would be better than white with green trim.

I think you should use this as an excuse to pick the color of every new car you buy as long as that roof is on the house.

If you don't like the white w/ green shutters. You might try a pale yellow. I am not a yellow person , but on most of yellow house I see they have green roofs. Just a thought.

Oh gosh I hope I didn't get you in trouble asking you to post a pic, I forgot about there needing to be a boxer in the pic. One the one website it does show a yellow house with a green roof that doesn't look too bad.

Were the green shingles on sale? I just wondered 'cause I did a search on green shingles and you should have seen the amount of websites I got for clearances on green shingles. Keep us posted.

Oh Gee, we have some houses around here that have green shingles, sort of two toned green and one house is white with matching green shutters and the other I can see is green shingles with cream color house with green shutters, shutters are wood with beautiful painted flowers on them. They actually really look nice.
