Hello to everyone, i hav a 6month old male boxer puppie and i have noticed occasionaly a green discharge around his penis. It doesn't seem to bother him and it seems to come and go over the last few days. Is this something i should consult the vet about or is it normal?

Both of my males have had it and I was told by more than one vet that it's normal, however you may wish to call your vet and discuss over the phone and see what they say.

Mine had that when he was little too- ew. I used to wipe it off with a paper towel when I saw it so he wouldn't wipe it on furniture, bed etc when he laid down.

Oh yeah my boy never grew out of it. I didn't even get him until he was around 2 years old, he passed away at 7 or so and still had it. My boy now is 20 months and has it.

Gus has this as a little guy too. My vet told me it was normal and that he just hadn't figured out, or wasn't doing a good job at keeping himself clean. LOL. I guess the older dogs that still have this, maybe they don't want to be clean, LOL. Gus had the green discharge when he was sick, when his jaw was so painful, but it makes sense cause he couldn't clean his privates since he wasn't eating/drinking/licking ANYTHING. The vet said it was normal that time too.

My vet had told me that it was the urine left in the urethra. It goes sour and changes color. Nothing to worry about and he would grow out of it. Lily also had it as a pup, but not after about 9 mos. I think boys have it more often cause they never really "empty" the bladder in case something comes up that they have to mark. Of course, Buster will mark even if he is totally out of ammunition. Seems redundant, but he looks like he's working hard at steaking his boundry so I don't stop him. LOL

Not sure if it's the same, but what I'm talking about on both of my males I don't think it could be left over urine. It's thick, like, not to be gross, but like pus consistency and it isn't a clear color, it's a "milky" color. Has the consistency of like eye boogers, thick non see through color. And for us neither of my males had/have ever marked for whatever reason.

Hmmm, kinda sounds like the stuff Buster used to get but not so much anymore now that he empties better.

Wondering if it's a UTI or something?
