Grandpop was in visiting this weekend. Junior just loves him, he is so spoiled! First he was brought new squeaky toys that he had ruined within a few hours. The biggest thing was that whatever grandpop was eating and/or drinking, Junior was eating and/or drinking as well! I'm talking Diet Coke, Graham Crackers with peanut butter and jelly, hot dogs, asparagus, even a Taco Bell Steak Bowl ( smashicon This is when mom had to draw the line and say, STOP, your going to get him sick, and you'll have to clean up the poo)!

I know that he loves Junior as much as Junior loves him, but man, I wish that he would realize that he isn't a human being and he doesn't need everything that hes eating/drinking.

I was in the same situation: Grandad would feed my baby everything! Disney had surgery on bladder stones and was on a very strick perscription diet for a few months afterwards. Luckly Grandad is in Fl so only comes up a few times a year. So I keep the stirckt diet card in my pocket when he comes up and tell him that if he gives him anything else that's not on the diet he is paying ofr the vet bills! I know it's frustrating but they need to learn that they can't have everything we are eating. No matter how sad those eyes are!

Since my dad passed away in 1996 he didn't have a chance to spoil my boxers, but boy did he ever spoil my little dog Tiger!! The poor thing would almost be round when she came home from visiting. And I am sure that to the day she died saying the word Grampa brought about visions of dancing hot dogs! I swear he would go shopping just for her before we visited. Too funny!

Both of mine are terribly spoiled by my Mom. We visit her (or she comes here) every couple of months, and man is it bad. They get waffles, prime rib, spaghetti, garlic smashed potatos, and even red wine. Rita loves the wine so munch she will cry if I have a glass hoping that I will dip my finger in and let her lick the drops like Grandma does. I have to admit that after a couple of glasses I generally give her a little. As long as it is good wine and I am sure that she won't have a headache! LOL :)

Sasha is rotten too!! She gets ice cream as a treat but if she hears me unwrap cheese singles....she will get up out of a dead sleep down the hall and 2 bdrm's away....she LOVES cheese. Her daddy has a bad habit of whatever he has...she gets a taste too!! And of course Sasha is not so refined as she likes her mom's red or white wine....she loves daddy's beer and jack and cokesmashicon ....what to do ....what to do!!!!:)

Ours, luckily don't get spoiled that bad. The grandparents live 4000km away- but when they visit they do get treats. They love Christmas when the grandparents send new toys and treats for the grandpuppies.

Both our dogs sit right in front of "Opa" the entire time he's eating. Huh, I wonder why? It's because he sneaks them food all the time. He thinks we don't see it.

I'll throw a new twist into this. I wish my father would spoil my fur-kids, instead, he grumbles and says things like, "I don't know why people have dogs, especially in the house." So, even though the "grandparents" are a real pain in the rear (ha), count your blessings!!!!!

Can you tell that I am old enough to be a grandmom too, but I'm not one yet? I will be one of those guilty ones too! When the babies are born, and even if they are fur-kids brought into the family, I will be one doting and spoiling nanny.

Mary,

Your so right! He'll say "man, Junior, you've got to be the ugliest dog I've ever seen" while petting him. Junior's little nub will be going miles a minute, and I'm like, yeah right dad, you love him and you know it!!
