Yes - Timberwolf's ocean blue formula is grainless and of protein content around 26%-ish (don't recall precisely). Natural Balance also make a couple of grainless versions - a potato/duck and sweet potato/fish. Those a fairly low in protein content though (the fish version might even be a bit on the low side for a pup). There are a few others around with similar formulas, usually aimed at allergy sufferers, but perfectly good for non-allergic dogs also.

How much is too much protein for a 6mnth old? I just switched from Natural Balance regular kibble to Innov EVO small bites. I also use the Natural Balance lamb loaf food for treats. She seems to love it. I also give her a couple of tablespoons of plain yogurt a day.

Hard to know ;) The simple answer, when you're talking about dry food, is that it's probably prudent to stick with moderate-protein foods up to about 26%-ish.

That's far less than you'd get on a natural (raw) diet, most homecooked, or canned food - all of which are up around the 45-60% mark on a dry matter basis. But when it comes to dry foods, there's conflicting information around as to whether or not it may contribute to (exacerbate or cause) skeletal disorders. My suspicion is that it's probably not a factor. But you shouldn't make food choices on my suspicions (LOL) but rather on facts. And the facts aren't clear in this instance (yet). Thus, the prudent thing to do is just stay moderate with dry foods and protein content until the skeletal growth phase is complete.

Thank you!
She was getting a bit too "ribby" so that is one of the reasons I switched. She seems to really love the evo and is filling out nicely. I can always switch back to Natural Balance. That's about the only choice. Internet shipping costs prohibit other high-grade brands.

I just ordered the Timberwolf's Ocean Blue online and the shipping is free as long as you spend over $12.00, which you will more than likely do. It is a grain free, all life stages food.
