Not to my knowledge, I give my two some bread soaked in milk if their stomach are upset. Sometimes I would just give them a small amount which they love. That was what my vet told me to do. They haven't have any side effect as yet.

The lactose in milk isn't digested as easily by dogs and cats as it is by people. Milk in small quantities as a treat or reward is not bad but in larger amounts can cause diarrhea and sometimes vomitting. I never "set out" to give my dog or cats milk but they do get the occasional like of ice cream or last few drops from the cereal bowl and they're none the worse for it.:)

Thank you for your replies. Yeah our crazy girl loves ice cream and the last of your cereal as well, although she would rather the whole thing....Thanks!:)

Our guys love milk but get the runs from too much. I recently gave them rice milk and they love it, I'm not sure if they even know the difference. I tried soy milk but 3 turned their nose up, and the one that did drink it got gas sooo bad.:( They get frozen yogurt for treats made with plain yogurt and a little pumpkin and honey swirled in and then frozen into cubes. I have also put in peanut butter. I used to buy the real frozen yogurt but felt it had too much sugar.

Right now I'm mixing Brutus' kibble with a bit of powdered milk and warm water to soften a bit. He doesn't seem to be have any problems

I've used milk to mix medicine in when BooBoo had kennel cough...liquid calcium I think. He also loves ice cream, but i've found that when I serve him yogurt, he thinks it's the same as ice cream... he loves it...:D

Kaine gets some watered down milk or "straight" milk every now and again and he goes nuts for it. We also just recently bought him a Kong and froze it with some yougurt and that was a big hit. Very quickly....for those interested:

Strawberry-Bannana yougurt, blended fresh strawberries, bannanna chunks under p-butter for the "plugs". Freeze.

The flavors were okay for Kaine, but we plan to experiment with some others.

Jay, Amy, and Kaine.

Nikki loves ice cream, or any dairy product, but we can't give her too much because she always gets green eye boogers afterwards. We think she might be allergic to it.

But if she had her choice, I bet she'd eat a whole gallon of ice cream, hehe!
