Got a nasty letter from garbage company

Just had to share

My friend always says I am gross because I have a big bag of hospital gloves and I pick up the "duty" and put it is recycled supermarket bag's as do a lot of people here but then I just tie the bag's and throw them away!

She think's it is gross because I am using my hand but then I asked her what the diffrence was between gloves and sandwich bag's which she uses for her dog. to top it off she has a chiuahuah (sp?) and I have my dozer! The poo is a LOT diffrent!

I have to agree with Maniago ...it's just another positive I've noticed after switching to BARF but with the ones not decomposing fast enough (ie 24hrs) I double bag it like i used to the old ones prior BARF though there is only about 1/4 of it now.

On a different twist...you guys are lucky. I have a dumpster on my property (I have 3 home businesses). They do not allow yard waste at all. I live in a very remote area...we have to burn our yard waste. I would prefer to be able to throw it in the dumpster!

We also use a lined small garbage pail with a tight lid. On trash day, we just double bag it and toss it with the regular trash. Even with three dogs (we're talking about a lot of poop here), I've had no complaints to date. We recently changed them all over to a raw diet, so there is far less waste, and it is very dry. Don't know why you were singled out - baby diapers, wet grass clippings, and garbage (that has turned rancid on a hot day) is just as bad, if not worse. What does your local shelter do with all of their's?!! Let us know what you ultimately do - Cathy

Because I live out in the county, we do not have trash pick up. We take our own trash to the dump. So I do a "trash run" about every other day. Bit of a hassle but I never have to worry about anyone refusing to take my trash because of doggie poo. With four boxers I sure do have my share of it too..

I have a 33 gallon trash barrel in which I put trash bags in and through the poop in there. I change the bag once a week. No complaints yet, but I'm sure the garbage man hates me.

Hubby and I take turns with "doggie-doo" duty each day (not my favourite job) . We use recycled plastic shopping bags from grocery or department stores, just tie off, throw in an outdoor rollout garbage container lined with a heavy duty garbage bag and then out with weekly garbage pickup. It has never been an issue, but the smell is pretty much contained and I agree it is no worse than diapers.

We live out in the country and have a soy bean field adjancent to our property. My husbands scoops the poop and flings it as far as he can out into the field. He claims it is good fertilizer. Makes me think twice about eating soy beans!!

They explained that they recycle the yard clippings into fertilizer and dog poop isn't part of this process.

Kind of runs counter to common sense, huh? I compost mine, along with yard waste and biodegradable household waste - the product is an incredibly rich (and free) fertizlized topsoil additive for spring planting.

So he tells me that he flings them into the street at night when no one is looking. Since we live on a busy street, the cars run over it and take it away.
