Darby has some very dry skin right now, and she is just getting over an allergic reaction to "something" and had to go to the vet. She no longer has the hives, but her skin is very very dry and I would like to find something we could use on her to help soothe her skin.

Is there one shampoo that is better then another?

We currently use an oatmeal shampoo, and it seems to work well..........but is there one that is much better that we should try?

Thanks,

Steve

Oatmeal shampoos are good for the skin and coat. I have always liked the shampoos by Earthbath. The Mango Tango one is really nice and I think they have and oatmeal shampoo too.

You might try adding some oils to her food. Salmon Oil, flax seed oil and even olive is good. You also might look at what you are feeding. Sometimes a better food helps with the coat.

Feeding her Wellness Core........and she loves it.

Maybe we'll try some oil on her food, and picking up another oatmeal shampoo to help her out.

Wellness Core is certainly good food, but not all food is the best for all dogs. You might want to try switching to something else when you have finished the current bag. It's a good idea to switch to something else every 3 months of so. A food with a different meat source and from a different manufacturer is usually considered a different good idea.

Good luck!

Flax seed oil, or fish oil should help with dry skin. It's probably a good idea to limit baths and only use shampoo when necessary as shampoo washes away the skins natural oils.
