Just wanted to say hello. I pick up my little girl in just a few hours - 9 am. And I am SOOOO excited! I am thinking of naming her Laila. (like Laila Ali - the female boxer). I thought that was kind of cute. She is an adorable brindle baby - and as soon as I get her home, I will take mounds of pictures to share. She went to the vet yesterday for her health certificate (I am having her flown in from South Carolina). The dr. weighed her in at 20 lbs, 8 oz. Isn't that kind of underweight? I am going to start her on Natural Balance - hoping it will put some weight on her. But from reading everyone else's posts, that just seems so small. Any thoughts?

Hello and welcome to BW! Laila Ali is such a cute name and I am sure it fits your little brindle furbaby to a tee. Where on Long Island do you live? I reside in West Babylon - Cathy

She is home - in Amityville!! and FULL of energy!!

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome and best wishes. I forgot to mention her age...she will be 5 months on the 7th of this month. Also, I was wondering what works best for fleas and ticks?
On my way to the vet now.

Hello there from Tennessee and welcome to BW! This is a wonderful site with lots of information. Our boxer babies are almost the same exact age as Schooner will be 5 months on the 16th of this month. At the vet 2 weeks ago he weighed in at 23 lbs so in comparison with other babies on this site he is small too. However, according to his vet he is fine so it seems furbabies are like skinbabies and all have their own growth schedules and spurts. As for fleas/ticks my vet says Revolution is great because it also helps to deter other parasites such as worms. I like it because it takes a second to do and it works for a month. Good luck and congrats on your new baby!!! Laila is a beautiful name for I'm sure a beautiful boxer (are there any other kind of boxer?? LOL)

So, we may it through the first night!

Oh, the precious little thing snores! And she falls asleep as soon as her head hits the pillow. She woke me up at 4:30 this morning - wanting to play and go outside. But, I am not complaining because for an "un-housebroken" baby, it is wonderful she woke me up wanting to go outside! She wasn't too keen on the cold temperature, though.
She is leary with stairs. She will go up them, but she is MORE THAN hesitant when it comes to going down. So, yesterday ended up carrying her down the stairs when we would go in and out of the house....she is going to have to hurry up and learn the stairs, though. She will be heavy soon!!! :)

If your little furbaby is anything like mine, she will soon be flying down those stairs in no time! Enjoy - Cathy
