Going out on maternity leave

Well, I know it's been a while since I've posted on here. And now, here I am, posting for some support. Today is my last day at work for at least 12 weeks-I'm going out on maternity leave. But I'm no too happy about it-I'm not even due until Monday and had planned on working up until the little bundle got here, however, my doctor is sending me home after today. This isn't how it was supposed to be! Of course, DH is tickled-he wanted me to start my leave this past Monday, but since Dr told us if I haven't done anything by next Tues, she's going to induce, she said it'd be better if I go on home and get some rest. I know it's only a couple of days extra, but I'm just not doing too well with it, I guess. Not to mention the whole "inducing" thing-that scares me to death! So, if ya'll think of it, please just keep me in your thoughts as I'm going stir-crazy at home with DH! At least Boomer will be there to help me feel better. He's been very clingy lately-I'm sure he knows something's going on.

Be glad you get a little time off before the baby comes, most people would trade you places any day and this gives you more time to get everything ready and make all of the last minute preparations. Good luck on having the baby.

Good luck!!! And, don't worry about the inducing thing, my sister's last baby (Sydney was born this past August) was induced. They just gave her some medicine in an IV and then later that afternoon, the doctor manually broke her water. Sydney was there less than an hour later. So, her labor wasn't really that bad. It was one hour of very, very severe versus 20 hours of very severe. I'd take that extra "very" anyday. And, if my sister can do it, you can! She's kinda a little girly-girl pansy!!! But, I LOVE HER! Good luck again, let us know when your baby is here!

First off, want to wish you a safe and speedy delivery!!! I totally understand how you feel. I was put on bed rest 3 weeks before I was due (ignored the Dr) but continued to work up until 4 days before. I worked 16 hr days with 2 miles of walking and an 1 1/2 hr commute (each way). I thought I would die being home but I forced myself to enjoy the time and relax. I went shopping for silly little baby things, long lunches and pedicures/foot massages. Oh how I would kill for that time again. I suggest you go pick up a bunch of movies and really bad food and RELAX.

As pp poster said, be very glad for the time off beforehand. I had planned on working up until my due date (oct 9th) also...didn't work out that way and I'm SO glad. Rest now and relax and enjoy time with your husband. I gave birth last week and am SO exhausted, I'm really glad I had the time that I did.

Whitney--Good luck next week and congrats on the new addition!! I have never had a baby, so I can't offer much advice on that subject. I will keep you in my thoughts for a fast and speedy delivery and recovery!!
