Hello everyone, I have not logged on for a while but thank you again for your wonderful support and kind words. I cannot tell you how much they have helped us! Here's the original thread

http://www.boxerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138885

Bob has gone from taking 12 predisone tablets to zero. He's just had his fifth round of chemotherapy and each blood test is coming back better and better. To say we're thrilled is an understatement! To think in January the vet said he was almost totally blind and now, thanks to the treatment, Bob can see and is back chasing his ball ( it was heartbreaking seeing him 'miss' it. There's no chance of that now!) I'm not sure his vision is 100% but it's certainly significant and his chemotherapy will continue up until November.

He's only had a few side effects but recently he's gone off his food - we're keeping a close eye on it, but it has been very hot for him recently and I also think it's more fussiness than anything - the BBQ has been on most nights in the warm weather and the smell of fresh meat is more tempting than boring old dinner!

We hit a problem in March. On top of everything else, the poor little fella snapped his cruciate ligament and had to undergo surgery to fix it! In the circumstances, the only thing they could do was minor surgery but when he's off the chemotherapy completely we may have to look at something more permanent for him. He's dealing with it incredibly well and is now running around like a loony again but occasionally he's limping on it so we have to stop him from over exerting himself which is difficult when he's got so much energy now.

If there are any other owners who have experience of GME ( believe its full term is Granulomatous meningoencephalomyelitis ) and could share anything on what we can expect going forward please do let me know. We know we're not out of the woods with him yet, but the progress he's made has been amazing, and he's been so brave.

Thanks again everyone
xxxx

Thank you so much for the update on Bobby! How wonderful to hear that he has done so well on the chemo! :) Sorry to hear about his CL, my goodness, what a trooper he is!! You just can't keep a brave Boxer down! With hot weather, it's pretty normal for appetites to wane, unless it's fresh meat, of course. ;) Sending out more healing and positive vibes to your amazing Bobby, and hopes for continued good progress. Please keep us posted.
