I wonder just how often your boxer gets a bath?

Monty is two and a bit but he has only ever had a bath twice. On both these occasions it was because he splashed and rolled in a mud bath. Normally I only have to clean his paws if he's been in the mud. It rains alot here and that tends to give his coat a wash every few days.

I read alot about dog shampoos etc but I've never used them. The two times he has been bathed, I've simply used baby bath, which is good for babies skin and hair. It certainly hasn't hurt him.

I just wonder about different countries and climates and whether these circumstances determain how often your boxers need bathing

I bathe mine once every 6 months at the most. When I do, I use Johnson's baby shampoo or a prescription shampoo that I got from the vet. My vet states the shampoos advertised for dogs have very drying qualities in them and bathing them too often causes skin problems. Baxter has been with us almost a year and got a bath before coming to us from rescue. We've not needed to bathe him yet. I do wash off their feet and wash their faces with a washcloth as needed but as far as an actual bath..it's hardly needed here. If they get too dirty I take a damp towel and wipe them down.

Bax gets bathed 2-3 times a year. He keeps himself pretty clean and loves water play, which helps alot. When he starts to smell dog-like, I use a dry shampoo foam on him that makes him smell good again. The dry shampoo is a spray on, brush out foam that works very well. He gets that about every 6 weeks or so. :)

I forgot to say.

Monty's sister Sophie has had numerous baths. She loves to roll in anything dead or fox manure. When this happens my brother in law refuses to let her in the car (if its only a couple of miles away from home). I've witnessed it and boy does she stink.
Monty never does this, he sniffs at scents but never rolls in them.
Sophie is the pretty girl with the stripe on her nose on my avatar. Monty is the one looking a bit puzzled.

Our girl gets a bath quarterly unless she' really gotten messed in the mud after a good rain. Recently she had some skin infection, so she's gotten two antibacterial baths in the past week. We also wipe her down with a washcloth or with the doggie wipes if she starts to stink.

Olli usually get a bath once a month. He stays inside so i try to keep him bathed atleast once every month to keep him clean. Sometimes it is longer than a month and other times shorter. He usually stays pretty clean but he sometimes rolls on a dead animal or gets into something else.

Ali very rarely gets bathed - she does get hosed after playing in the silty creek though. Zan has fallen in the creek once already and had to be hosed! Last summer Ali had a rash (I think from seed heads on the grass) and I got some tea tree shampoo from the vet which is supposed to be soothing, so she did get bathed in that a few times, but mainly on her stomach/chest where the rash was.

Nedra gets a bath once a week because she has problem skin. She has to use a special shampoo because she is prone to skin infections.

Our Arlie gets bathed every second week,
We have done this since she was 8 weeks old .
All we have to say is ARLIE BATH and she runs towards the bath.
We make sure that she is gettng enough oil in her diet , and all things are fine .
Start them early and you will have know problems

Well on average I would say mine get bathed once a month. The winter months are a bit different and they are lucky if they get bathed once. YOu know no matter how soon before the bath you let them pee..they definitly have to do it after. Its cold and I dont wnat them getting sick. Plus three of mine arent potty trained..so thats even harder to keep them from going in the house. The summer months though they get so dirty since they killed all the grass out in the section of the yard they roam in. When they jump up and want a hug and I come up black...well its time for a bath!! :p I usually use puppy shampoo on all the dogs or oatmeal shampoo if its flea season. The oatmeal helps them not be so ichy when they bite. They need to make flea control that doesnt have the flea bite the dog before it dies..just a simple landing on them kills them..yeah right..I know I'm dreaming.:D
