Hey everyone, here is a follow up to let you all know how Ginger is doing. Last night when I got home from work Ginger and my wife were playing. As soon as I walked in the door Ginger ran over to see me just jumping up and down. She ate some ground chicken baby food that the vet recommended and kept it all down. She also drank some Pedialyte which is a big improvement. So this morning rolls around and Ginger went outside and did her business. Her stool looked like it had binded pretty well with only some trace bits of liquidy look to it. It was solid for the most part. So my wife tried to feed her the sensitive stomach dog food this morning in little amounts at a time and Ginger only ate a very little bit of it. Didn't seem to want it much. Maybe her little stomach has shrunk during this ordeal. After breakfast she pretty much just wanted to sleep then, so after a little more Pedialyte that is how we left her, asleep in her crate. Hopefully she is on the road to recovery. She definitely doesn't seem to have Parvo. I'm hoping it is not a disease that comes and goes like a remission type disease. She seemed pretty bad two nights ago and now is showing improvement. That doesn't sound like Parvo does it? Ok, anyways, I'll post more as it comes.

Hey folks. Well, here is yet another update for Ginger. It is Friday morning and I just admitted her into the vet's care today. She was vomiting alot last night and had some bouts of diarrhea. She still did not eat or drink anything and really didn't want to even keep the Pedialyte down that we put in her mouth. The vet told me this morning that she still believes that it is not parvo, but is going to do a CBC test to check her white blood cell count to see if it might indicate parvo. They are going to put her on fluids and try to feed her today. Hopefully we can find out what is happening and get Ginger on the road to recovery. I thank everyone for their advice and am thankful for all the prayers. With God's help Ginger will be back to us 100% soon. Thanks to everyone again.

my pup had the same thing

My dog had the same thing when she was about 10 weeks old. She was given some medication and the vet recomended nutrical. Its a suppliment that is full of vitamins and also is an appetite stimulant. It worked great and it helped Tara put some weight back on. You can buy a tube of it @ petsmart or petco for about 5 dollars.

Hi,
If Ginger has coccidia she will also throw up and have runny stools. I took in a foster at seven weeks and seven pounds from a breeder and she had coccidia. Of course, she mentioned it as she handed the pup to me and I had no idea what I was in for. On here, I learned a lot. She threw up the first couple days and then had runny stools for a bit. She was on albon. A friend sent over some Olewo carrots. They firmed her stools up in a day and she began eating and gaining weight.

You can find Olewo carrots in the supplement section of a holistic feed store, one that promotes natural feeding and dog care. I don't know of anywhere you can get it over the internet, it is from Germany.

With that, I used plenty of yogurt, canned food, etc.

I have seen pups come into rescue with coccidia gone wild and they are so listless and tiny.

Wishing Ginger a speedy recovery!

I just receive my copy of Jan 04 The Whole Dog Journal.

There is a good article about a supplement called Symbiotics New Life Colostrum. A vet named Dr. Stephen Blake from San Diego say that he has used this supplement to treat allergies, bacterial and viral infections, autoimmune diseases, digestive problems and even cancer. He says that he has seen dramtic results for the better in dogs he has treated with this supplement. He has a web address: www.thepetwhisperer.com.The article also says that this supplement can be found in some health food stores. They list Dr. Blakes phone # in this publication. If you would like it , please feel free to pm me.

I just thought I would pass this info on to you. I hope she is feeling better soon.
