I am getting married next July, and my maid of honor is pregnent. I beleive she is due in April/May, but am concerned for my big day. I don't have kids, so I don't know much about this. Am I going to have enough time to find dresses for everyone, will she be able to leave her baby for the night? She says to me that it wontbe a problem, that she will more then likely be looking for some time away from it, but I find this hard to beleive! I know I don't have kids, but being a new mother, I can imagine it would be hard to leave the baby for the day/night!! What do you guy's think? This is her first child, she is 24. Should I keep her in my party, or politley as her to just attend as a guest? Would it be rude? I just don't know what to do, but I don't want her to feel obligated, or have something happen last minute, where I have to change everything!! I am so stressed! I need some advise! Thanks!

First of all congrats on the wedding!!! I actually work as an events coordinator so I deal with every aspect of this stuff. Etiquette wise it would be rude to ask her to attend just as a guest after you have asked her to be the Maid of Honor. Also I actually just got married this past june after having a baby in March so as I was looking at gowns I was HUGELY pregnant. It is much easier to take a dress in than to let it out so I just bought my gown 2 sizes bigger than my pre pregnancy weight and I ended up having it taken in. No problems. So I don't forsee the dresses being an issue for your maid of honor either. As far as leaving the baby is concerned. Yes it may be hard for her to leave - at first. Trust me after 9 months of pregnancy and a few months of little to no sleep your friend will be ready for a little time without the baby. I think everything will be just fine!!! Congrats again

Congratulations on the wedding.
With regard to your friend leaving the baby over night, I am sure that she will be glad of the escape. I know I would, having two myself.

Fletchersmum gave great advice about the dress.

Just relax and everything will go smoothly.

First let me say: Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! beericon

I agree with the previous poster's advice. On the overnight issue, I think she would be excited to have a break, one of my friend got married 2 weeks after her sister had her 2nd child and it was no problem at all. Go with you gut instinct and what you want, it is your (& DF) special day, you only have your wedding once. Good Luck!

P.S.
Is Kirby going to be in the wedding?

Congrats on the wedding!!

I agree and think it would be rude to ask her to back down. I was 9 mos pregnant for my brother in law's wedding. I was huge, it sucked but I was so glad to still be part of that special day.

You can offer babysitters either at the reception or the hotel where they will be staying or I'm sure she can bring a babysitter or family member along to watch the baby also. When my sil got married her moh had recently had a baby also, her parents were invited to the wedding (no kids were invited) to help care for the baby. The baby was at the reception as she was still breastfeeding and didt take bottles but it was def. helpful to her and the bride to have her parents there to help relieve her so she could enjoy the wedding and she knew the baby was in safe hands.

As for dress, you could look for empire waist or A-line gowns. My moh was 4 mos pregnant at our wedding, the A-line worked perfect and was very comfortable. There are also brands that make maternity gowns. Mine was B2 by Belsoie.

Good luck with everything.

P.S.Is Kirby going to be in the wedding?

That was going to be my next post!! I realy want both boys in my pictures, but the fiancee can't see it happening. If we don't have family looking after them, they will be boarded. At first my fiancee said that there was no one he trusted that was not in pictures to go into our house to get them. But after I thought about it, I don't think they will be at the house, cause neither of us will be! So unless I find someone we trust, and someone who Kirby likes, they might not be there :( I just dont know what to do!! Arrg!!

Are you having the bridal portraits done before the wedding? If so you could have them in those pics, although DF would not be in them. :(

Do you mean they wouldn't sit nice and quiet for the ceremony?

I have not decided yet where I am getting ready, might be the hotel. My dress is at my dads right now, but I want to get it. Both my dad and step mom smoke, and my dress is not to be kept in the bag, I told my step mom to just put a sheet over it, butwhen I saw it last weekend, it was still in the bag. Also my step mom and dad have been fighting pretty heavy so there might be a possible split... so I would like to get my dress just incase. So anyway back to the original post.. I don't think its possible for the boys to be in the pics before the ceremony, but tings could still change, its a ways away still!!

I was the moh in my friend's wedding 3 weeks after having my son and everything worked out just fine. Had the dress made a couple sizes larger and took it in - just like others have mentioned. I also agree, having two kids of my own, a break away from the baby for a night will probably be a much needed one!

One of my bridesmaids was 8 months pg in my wedding. She is normally a size 4 and we had to get her a size 18 dress. She stayed skinny during her pregnancy except for the big belly. The seamstress did a great job making this huge dress into a beautiful maternity gown. She looked just like all my other bridesmaids except the belly.

Since your friend will have already given birth by your wedding I’d suggest you just have her buy a dress that is a size or two over her normal size and then wait until two or three weeks before the wedding to have it altered. Unless she gains a ton of weight she will probably be pretty close to her normal weight by two months after she gives birth.

As far as leaving the baby I’m sure she will be fine and if not she can bring her mom or sister with her. They can baby-sit at the hotel while she is at the wedding.

Don’t worry it will all work out. I stressed out over all this stuff too but everything ended up fine.
