What's the difference between a German boxer and an American boxer? Looks and traits difference?

Between correct dogs - nothing.

Between incorrect specimens, plenty. But there's just as much difference between incorrect dogs within a country as between them ;)

All boxers have german bloodlines. That's just silly. :D

Not only do all boxers have German bloodlines, but even the German boxer population was built back up with American stock after WWII.

That said, there are people importing dogs and claiming that they're somehow more "pure" boxers because they're straight out of Germany or Europe. They may be great dogs or not. I tend to think that the fine breeders of Germany aren't going to send their best animals out of the country, so...

Hi

You will see differences between european breed and american breed boxers. Not right or wrong just different, based on history and taste two different types have been favoured in the two areas.
The written standards are almost identical but interpretations vary.
The link mentioned above is very good! Another good link to read about the history and development of the boxer is Breeder site removed by moderator - please read the site rules. the author is a reputable breeder and former judge of the german Boxerklub.

Btw: I know first hand that (some) european breeders do sell good puppies to the States. Two half-brothers of my boxergirl were on their way to the US when I picked her up.

I told my husband NOT to post that. Since we both post under the same name. Now I'm officially embarrased.
