Oliver went through the same thing last week and his incisions look awful. Hopefully, his too his fade. The important thing is that the stitches don't seem to be bothering him and he seems to be back to his old self. I still can't wait until they are removed this Friday so we can put the cone away for good (hopefully).
Our breeder did inform us of the undescended testicle. She had originally wanted to keep Ollie for breeding/showing and only decided to let him go as a pet on the condition that the 2nd testicle didn't descend. We bit our nails for weeks waiting to see if it would and thankfully it didn't. She had told us it would cost more to have him neutered and so we were only a little surprised to get a bill for $500 (microchipping included).
It's a relief to have it out of the way anyway and for us it was a great transition point for getting Oliver to sleep on his dog bed in our room, instead of in his crate. We don't want to put him in his crate with the cone on because he can't turn around with it on and we wouldn't trust him not to lick with it left off. We're much happier not having to "lock him up" at night.
