First I'd like to say congrats!!!! It's a huge undertaking, DH has done it a few times, but he hasn't quit quitting (and I told him he better quit before the new baby shows up or he will have to change clothes after every cig).
I celebrated 2 years smoke free (not even 1 puff since then) on May 12th of this year and still going strong (quit before getting pregnant with my second son). It's tough, I smoked for the oral fixation/habit, I hated the taste (that made it easy to quit). So, to kick the habit I changed my vice (switched to gum, straws, toothpicks, pens, whatever was lying around) and changed my schedule and routine. I used to smoke in the car all the time, so instead I used to keep a pack of gum where the ciggarettes used to be and so on.
Also, bought myself a new car as my reward for stopping smoking (and justified the extra $115/month on the car payment (above the old car payment) by what I was saving in smokes. Clean car that didn't smell like smoke and no money to buy cigs

worked out well for me. Plus, no way I was going to give up my brand new Explorer.
The dreams were the worst part for me. I didn't do the patch or anything (they gave DH horrific nightmares), but I still have dreams that I'm chain smoking and it FREAKS me out! I wake up in a sweat thinking I have to give up my car LOL
Good luck to you all who are on that path (or those that keep trying to get on), it's a tough habit to kick but the rewards are well worth the pain and agony.
