Gas Relievers for Dogs?

Well, I was trying these antigas supplements along with a powder called Optagest which is a prebiotic and digestive enzyme. I have been trying to wean Griffin off the i/d and onto Natural Balance. He does fine during the day, but it is always after dinner for some reason when he gets sick. Once again, for the second time in the past 4 days he is having the hiccups, pacing, whining, retching, etc. I know this sounds like bloat but its what he ALWAYS does when he gets sick. I just gave him a 125 mg simethicone hoping it would do something, anything at this point. We are so fed up at this point. I work in a vets office and they cant ever find anything wrong with him. I don't know if we need a specialist or what but that is a lot of money. I am just so frustrated right now!

Can see why you are frustrated... What does his diet consist of? Maybe thinking about diet, any recent changes in his feedings, etc might shed some light? While treating the discomfort is important something is causing the gas too. Does he have diarrhea?

We have tried several different diets including raw, which he did well on but started getting sick again. He has most recently been eating i/d and I was trying to get him on Natural Balance lamb and rice but I can't seem to get his tummy settled long enough to even try to transition him. We are trying him on steroids which just started last night so they haven't even had time to start working. The past 2 nights he has had the "gulps" so I was afraid to feed him more than a couple tablespoons of the i/d. He is currently getting 500 mg metronidazole, 20 mg pepcid, and 10 mg prednisone an hour before dinner. I want to get him off the i/d in case there is something in it that he can't tolerate, but I really don't know what to try for. I am afraid of trying dry food too because I am afraid he has too much trouble digesting it right now. He doesn't have diarrhea, he has always had good stools. Actually the only times he had diarrhea were when he was on raw.
