So my couch and chair and 1/2 are done! Does anybody have any good suggestions for boxer-friendly furniture? I'm afraid of leather because of his nails. I'm wondering about micro-fiber but I worry how I'm going to get the drool off.

Thanks!

Microfiber furniture is so easy to clean actually. We own a dark brown microfiber sectional and it cleans up nicely! :)

For the fabric, it's best if cleaned with dish washing soap (Joy is best). The enzymes will break down the stain and then just use water to remove the soap. It doesn't leave a residue. It will even get blood out if gotten to right away.

Microfiber

We have had the same microfiber couch for 10 years. We keep bedspreads on it to keep the hair, dirt and drool off. It has worked. We just got Sure Fit Deluxe covers from QVC which look much nicer. They are not your typical covers. They just lay on the furniture no pins or tucking. Good luck.

Also we spray ours with leather and suede protector. It keeps spills and leaks from absorbing.

I got a huge throw blanket at costco for $20. Its like a microfiber material. Had it cut/finished for $30 to fit my couch (10'), chair and had enough left to put over the bed. Wash it when it gets dirty and all the furniture is safe. You could line it to get it waterproof if thats an issue and it would be hidden.

I'm also interested to know. We have a microfiber set that is maybe 7 or 8 years old. Once upon a time it was beautiful. It does NOT hold up well to drool. I have to scrub to get those slug-track-like drool marks out and nails also leave scratch marks. I think there are different kinds of microfiber though because my parents have a set that has a more plush texture and it hold up very well to their chocolate lab. HOWEVER, he doesn't bounce all over the furniture like my girl does haha. Our microfiber has a more suede-like feel, so if you do go for microfiber, I's steer clear from that kind and go for the plush kind. Also, Scotch Guard!

I'm on my second set of leather furniture and don't think I'll ever go back to fabric. Easy to clean and even when it does starts to wear, it still looks good. Stay away from the 'buttery soft' stuff, though. It won't handle the nails as well. And my first set was cream...still easy to clean, just needed it a lot more often.

I'm in need of new furniture as well. Mine is 16 years old and believe it or not it still looks good but I have to put small pillows under the cushions to keep from falling through!
The springs went about a year ago and were repaired (professionally) and lasted just long enough for the 90 day warranty to expire. I knew it was a long shot!
If I could find what I have again (store no longer in business) I would buy another set....different color of course to change things up but I have been highly impressed with it. Been tortured by 3 cats and 2 Boxers.
I am also afraid of leather so won't go that route. I've seen what dogs nails can do to *some* leather furniture in my clients homes.

We love our leather living room furniture. The trick is to get a sturdy leather (scratch all the sample pieces at the store to see how they hold up), not a buttery soft leather.

Ours looks nicer than the day we got it, assuming I've wiped the drool off that day. lolicon Very easy to clean- I spray some leather cleaner/conditioner on it a once a week or so and rub it clean.

We have a micro-fiber set - it looks like worn leather. It has been wonderful. Stains disappear. I keep a micro-fleece blanket on the seat part just to keep the dirt and hair off of it. Dino sat on the couch (leaning back of course!) last week after I had just applied tick repellant to his back. It left a huge mark on the back cushion. I wiped it with a damp cloth and by the next day it had disappeared! I've never had any issues with nail marks either.
