I did not know where to post this so I thought this was the best place. My question is Does anyone here work full time say for 7 hours a day and leave your boxer home alone? I work a mid shift and my wife works during the day. When I sleep during the day he is in the crate as he is at night. I do get up every two to three hours to take him out. But was just asking if anyone else does this or similar to this and if not do you think it is a good idea to do this?
Yes, my husband and I do and yes our boxer stays in his crate. My husband leaves work about an hour after I do, but from 8:30 to 5:30 he is in his crate. When he was smaller, we would take turns running (and I do be RUSHING, since we live about 1/2 hour from work) home on our lunch breaks to let him out and run him around, once he starting being able to hold it through most of the night, we lessened the number of times we would stop home during the week, now, we hardly ever do. If it was closer we definitely would...
Onto the touchy subject, which I commented on before on another thread... Cooper is 100% loved every possible moment that we can, and take him with us whenever we are able. Beyond that Cooper stays in his crate while we are at work (which happens to be the size of a small penthouse by the way). It's a shame that people think that you have to be able to have a non-crated pet to have a happy pet... And, just for the record... Cooper doesn't know how to tell time... He doesn't give us any trouble getting into his crate, and when we get back he is happy to see us, just as we are happy to see him.... He doesn't sit there tapping his big jalopenous paws if we are a little late as if to say "where have you been... it's 5:35!"
