Revolution - Help Prevent Heartworm Disease too

We use Revolution on Jag. The vet encouraged us to try it on him as it covers Fleas, Ear Mites, Mange Mites, Ticks, aids in treatment and control of Roundworm and for the prevention of Heartworm Disease.
It is a little more expensive than some of the other brands but with all the benefits it has in prevention and control our big guy is soo worth it. :)

have you considered sentinel?

I use sentinel because Frontline and advantix irritated my Nate's skin. Sentinel fights fleas and all worms except tapeworms. The only problem with sentinel is if you live in an area that has ticks it will not fight them. Sentinel is a beef flavored chewable tablet given monthly.-amy

I use Revolution on mine too. It is a little pricier than the others at the vets.
However, my vet matches prices, so I usually find it online cheaper.
Ask your vet if they match. To me, it is well worth it.

I use Sentinel for both of mine and I find it works great. The vet suggested it because it covers a lot of things including heart worm which is very common around here. Just one pill a month and way to go. Neither of mine have had any reactions. It is a bit expensive here. I paid $91.00 for six tablets for Ali because she is heaver (only 58 lbs) and $57.00 for Bailey who is 15 lbs. This is a six month supply for each of them but I don't have to worry especially where I run mine on the country trails. Now I have to get the cat's supply. It can run a bit expensive, but that is the price you pay to have animals.

I asked my vet about Revolution he said NOOOOO! Too many cases of them getting heart worms while on this. He said it was ok for cats not for dogs. So be careful and keep them checked!

I have been using Revolution consistently for over five years now. I live in Mosquito Haven, and have never had a problem with heartworms, fleas, ear mites, worms, or any of that nasty stuff! IMO it's the best there is!

We use Frontline Plus on our Boxer & Rottweiler. It's not stinky at all & only leaves a greasy spot on the back of their neck for a few hours. The trick when using Frontline is to not bathe the dogs 2 days before or 2 days following application of the treatment. I believe the skin oils carry it all over the body... It works great for us !!! We also give Interceptor monthly to prevent heartworms & other parasites.

I follow the same routine for my 2 and I've never had a problem (knock wood).

I talked to Jag's vet about the risk of heartworm with Revolution and he says it all depends on the pet like anything else. There is a risk with any preventative treatment. But monitoring your pet is always recommended anyway.
