Great Gatsby
Boxer Pal
Can frequent urination be a behavioral problem?
I took Gatsby to the vet on Friday and she said that UTI's in males are not very common, but prescribed 1200 mg of antibiotic/day. I do not want to give him the antibiotic until the results of the urinalysis come in and we know it is a UTI for sure.
He has lots of energy, great appetite, does not drink more than usual. Last Wednesday he peed in is crate in the morning, he did the same the following morning, now he asks to go out really early and he keeps asking to go out during the day and when he goes out he pees a decent amount in his spot (just once - he does not mark). He did not have accidents in the house, so incontinence is not an issue. He does not lick down there, nor does he appear to strain when peeing. I wonder if this is something behavioral or more serious than a UTI?

If he's peeing bucket loads, it's a physical thing.
