Freckles and Hemangiosarcoma - Needs heeling Vibes!!!

When my dog was in treatment for mast cell tumors, I researched what to do in case he lost his appetite. I actually never needed to practice what I researched because his appetite remained pretty steady throughout the course of the treatment. However, one of the things that I came across was something called NutriCal. It's supposed to be really appealing to dogs who won't eat due to illness or for other reasons. It is supposed to be high in calories and nutrients so that it can help increase energy, strength, stamina. I talked to my vet about it, and he agreed that it's a good dietary supplement. I think you can get it at certain pet stores, but you can also do a search on the internet and can buy online too.
Good luck. Freckles and your whole family are really inspirational. You really seem to all have such a wonderful, positive attitude. I know from working with human cancer patients that a positive outlook can do wonders in terms of the body's ability to heal and bounce back from illness. Keep up the good work!!

Getting better
It has been rough for the past week but I am so happy that Freckles started to eat on her own today. I didn't need to give her an appetite stimulant pill this afternoon. She just wanted food. She now likes baby food, nutrical, protein shakes, chicken etc... She is not thrilled about rice or her dry cereal. Right now, we don't care as long as she is eating.
I really appreciate all the support. We are just so grateful that she is still with us. We are just taking it one day at a time but that is okay. Really makes you appreciate life and your family.

Hang in there!! I know that it is a very emotional time for you and your family. Trust me ~ I am living it. Just enjoy every minute with them. Do keep a positive attitude and this works for me.. as long as Freckles is willing to fight - I can only give her the options to fight and fight along her side. She has always been there for me unconditionally and I do not regret anything that we are going thru.

Getting stronger
Can't believe it. Today was the first day that Freckles has been off her appetite stimulant. She ate like a little piggy!! She ate normal foods. We didn't have to give her peanut butter and tuna. (Thank Goodness!!)
Her grandpa (my father-in-law) has been so awesome as well as her grandma. They have been taking care of her and Pepper while hubby and I are at work. Hand feeding her, giving her water from a bottle and just keeping her spirits up!! Pepper has been very quiet and patiently keeps an eye on Freckles. Pepper has not been eating too well lately because her buddy hasn't been. Today both of them were playing. Pepper was doing her happy dance around Freckles. She is so happy that Freckles is feeling better. Grandpa is the official dog feeder. If Freckles is under the dining room table there goes Grandpa to feed her so she would not have to get up!! He really is going to need the chiropractor!
We just keep our fingers cross that tomorrow she will be stronger. We just take things day by day and truly enjoy them.
My husband and I are feeling better and we should be able to get some rest tonight. We are a bit relieved but know that we still have a tough road ahead which is fine with us. This is our family and this is all we have!!
